Investing in the Future of South Africa's Energy: The Story of a Wind farm

Since 2012, Concord Cranes, in partnership with Vanguard, has led the way in supporting South Africa's wind energy projects. Our teams have been pivotal in transporting, installing, and maintaining wind turbines across the country.

Together, Concord and Vanguard transport the longest turbine blades ever moved in Africa—measuring 82.5 meters—from Coega Port to Noupoort, covering a 450km journey that includes the demanding Olifantskop Pass. This complex operation is made possible by combining trucks with remote steering dollies and working closely with traffic police, escorts, and planned road closures to ensure the safe delivery of each blade.

Beyond transportation, our role extends to the maintenance of existing wind turbines, including gearbox exchanges and blade replacements, which are key focuses of our Heavy Lift Division. With a robust crane network across Southern Africa, we approach each project with the precision and efficiency needed to drive growth and innovation in the wind energy sector.
