Entrepreneurship isn’t fantasy, its hard labour. This is the reason why population of job seekers outnumbers that of employers and the former will always serve the latter. If you consider it fun to read hard, dig deep and spend extra time learning what others will ignore; then, you have strong potential for success.
What stops many would be entrepreneurs is the error of placing money above other values of life. Your business idea is going to fly as long as you open yourself to possibilities, and based on this, I will share with you in words of Tony Hsieh, Zappos CEO - “Chase the vision, not the money, the money will end up following you.”
You have investment opportunities all around you, what is important is if your idea is investable. Investment here isn’t about funding from Tony Elumelu Foundations or Carlyle Group Investment offer; I speak of non-tangible contributions of the factors and elements around you.
Contributions of your spouse, siblings, roommates, neighbor, former colleague and even observing your seeming competitors cannot be over emphasized. Leveraging and synergy with actors around your business idea are effective strategy to fund your dream without direct cash investment.
Organise your idea into an entity: write out your missions and vision statement. Identify your industry and possible competitors. Itemize your products, design your logo, register your brand and list out your possible customers (market). Keep talking to friends who care about your idea, seek useful counsels, attend seminars, network and help others in implementing their ideas.
Let’s move up to something bigger, meet you at the top.
