I Am on a JOURNEY of PERSONAL GROWTH!

PERSONAL GROWTH is a JOURNEY of SELF-DISCOVERY we can ALL benefit from.

If YOU are looking for a place to start, this article is for YOU.?

Thank you for taking this journey with me as I discuss strategies like self-awareness and practicing mindfulness.

But first, what is personal growth??


What Personal Growth Means

PERSONAL GROWTH in Indeed is defined as a “process that allows you to expand your abilities by evaluating your behavior, attitude, and reactions.” In other words, growth is intentional. It is an active step to a better self and well-being.?

I am sharing with you GUIDING PRINCIPLES of PERSONAL GROWTH.?


Building Self-Awareness?

According to Psych Central, having the space for self-awareness allows you to see life from a realistic point of view.

It is unraveling your thoughts and emotions in a non-judgmental place.

Here are two strategies to boost self-awareness:

Journaling: By regularly journaling your daily experiences, you are putting jumbled thoughts on paper.

Which in the long run can help you understand your feelings and patterns better.

Positive Psychology mentions it can lower anxiety, as well.

Emotional Understanding: By paying attention to our emotions, we can better put names to them.

Even further, we can begin to identify the causes of our triggers and work towards ways to regulate ourselves that are more productive.?


Setting Those Big Goals?

We all have things we want to do in life.

But how are you going to get there?

What is going to take you from point A to point B??

I have found it particularly helpful to take a big goal and break it down into more palatable chunks.

Think of these chunks as your roadmap to success.

A game plan for action.?

?If, for example, you want to work remotely, what does that look like?

What kind of work do you want to do?

Do you have time each day to dedicate to a side business?

How much money will you need to save to live comfortably??

By breaking goals down, we are more likely to do them, achieving our desired outcome.?

Holding Empathy for Others?

By holding empathy for others, you seek to better understand the world you live in.

Very Well Mind mentions that EMPATHY can contribute to better relationships with our family and our life partners.?

We all have different experiences and viewpoints in life, but by taking an empathetic ear to those around us we will broaden our perspectives and opinions.?

?By CHALLENGING INNER BIASES and being receptive to others' experiences, we will promote our growth.?


?Practicing Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a great way to achieve personal growth. News in Health says mindfulness can:?

  1. Reduce depression and anxiety
  2. Lower blood pressure and improve sleep

Some techniques include meditation, intentional observation (paying attention to your environment), and body scanning, which bring awareness to different parts of your body one at a time.?

This helps build cognitive flexibility and overall well-being, both physically and mentally.?

Therapy?

Therapy is not just for those with mental health issues and trauma.

Talk Space mentions that 75% of those who seek psychotherapy treatment see benefits after six months of treatment.?

In a way, therapy expedites personal growth in most cases by offering:?

  1. Better communication skills.
  2. Effective coping strategies.
  3. Improved understanding of emotions.

There are different types of therapy out there, so make sure you do your research on which ones are a good fit for you.


?Resilience?

?According to the Mayo Clinic, resilience can prevent depression and anxiety.?

But what are some skills you need to build resilience??

  1. Positive self-talk: Take negative thoughts and replace them with more realistic, empowering ones.?
  2. Self-Care: Carve out time for yourself by doing things (hobbies) you enjoy.?
  3. Knowing your purpose: What are your values? Staying connected to them can improve personal growth.?


Be Patient?

Authentic growth is like nurturing a houseplant from scratch: it takes the right amount of watering, sunlight, and a gentle hand.

So do not beat yourself down if you feel like you’re not seeing the results you want.

It takes time.?

Invest In YOURSELF: Focus on the little wins and your commitment to the journey, your reward will come.?
