My cousin Chris posted this the other day and I had to say it felt like the damn thing was talking to me. I couldn’t agree more with this damn meme then I have anything else I’ve seen on the internet in a while now. The funny thing is I was talking about this exact same thing the other day at work, no lie. The same exact damn thing!

After being in the Army for so damn long I became the old NCO/Sergeant I use to talk shit about. With that time, grade and experience will come a lot of questions from younger Soldiers. Believe it or not, people do actually come to me for answers for some weird reason even with this resting bitch face I have I have stuck on my skull.

So, I can’t exactly remember where the conversation started or how it steered itself into this direction but there were questions about jobs, education, retirement, etc. I told them how even though I was in the Army all this time I have been pushing myself along the way to make myself better and to outdo myself.

-         Side note, if anyone knows me or my family we can not sit still. We always have a project or plans we are making up to have a project. Some of us have our own businesses that we run on top of having full time jobs and families. Its just something in our blood, I guess.

Even to prove to people that never thought I would or could do anything positive or have to potential to do some of the things I have done in my life. I told them one of the most important things you can do in your life is to “Invest into Yourself” because no one else will.

What I mean is believe it or not, not everyone wants to see you succeed or do good. You better not become better than them or have some time of success that’s for damn sure. You trying to make yourself better is a curse to this world and the ground they walk on. Your closest friends and even your blood relatives will smile to your face and tell you good job and as soon as you walk away, they will trash your name, idea, work ethic, business you name it. Even your parents and spouse will do this do you and its all happening right under your nose.

You work hard every day; you might have a full-time job or go to school but soon as your off you are grinding at making yourself better. You are not going out to the club, weekend BBQ’s, shopping trips, hanging out with friends or sitting watching TV. You are pushing yourself; you make yourself stay up late way past your bed time and you set your alarm clock extra early so that you can squeeze some extra time in before you have to go take care of your responsibilities for the day.

You ask your closets friends and family if they will help or support you and, in the end, you get a small fraction of them to even recognize what you are doing. Its sad I know, but it’s the Gods honest truth.

I brought up how I was always wanting to have my own business of some sort, I knew after I retired from the Army, I didn’t want to work for anyone but myself. How me and my father started up and tried to work with this electric company to expand them so we could be on the ground floor of the business. We made some money but, in the end, it was doing nothing for us but wasting our time, how me and my smart amazing wife had started our Humidor and Craft business with it blowing up so quickly that we were not ready and could barely keep up with the orders. Finally had to make the decision to close the doors on in for now because the Army keeps me to busy to actually sit and make things with my hands every day.

I told them a quick story how I was sitting in my room working on my website like I always do at the end of my day. My roommate comes and starts asking me questions about marketing, conversions, web traffic, promoting, you name it he asked. I told him what I was really doing on my site and even showed him things that I was working on and haven’t even put on the site yet to help him out. I showed him what programs to use and which to stay way from, what domains are the best for his webpage, how to send out mass emails for promoting his own site, etc. After about an hour or so of me doing this for him he thanked me and started to work on his website that was getting no traffic or sales. The next day I see him working on his laptop when I got off work and asked him how it was going. He told me he went with some other products that some of his friends told him about (which are not even in the marketing business) and was trying something else. I nodded and said good luck but, in my head, I was like what the hell was the reason you even coming to me for? Later that night he came to me to ask some questions about the stuff he had bought and invested into. Turns out it was cheaper on the front end but the stuff that he needed to help his website these other programs would charge him for every single item extra that wasn’t on the start up plan. All I said was, that sucks mine came with all of that. Only if you had someone that would have shown you before hand to save you all that money.

I told these young Soldiers that’s why you have to Invest into Yourself because you can’t depend on everyone to be there for you. You have to prove everyone around you wrong and that even goes for yourself. I said I get up every morning and see what is the one thing I can learn that I didn’t know yesterday. Anything is better then nothing, not saying social media, the news or some type of DIY show that’s on but real knowledge or a skill that you can take back to your workshop and be able to “Bring it to the Table” at the end of the day.

The people you can depend on in this area or subject are the people that will hit you up randomly to see how whatever it is you are working on going, suggest your idea/product/services to other people even if it means promoting you before themselves or in this day in time of all these social media platforms they actually promote your site or page on their own. They comment on it or tag it. Those are little things that a lot of people don’t see but it will mean so much to the person that is working night and day on their dream.

That’s why in the end after everything I have done and learned how to do that this door of opportunity was opened to me. To be able to help smaller businesses or people trying to make their own business and point them in the right direction. After all my learning faults (not failures but learning faults) I was able to take something away from it all. I can show people what to use and what not to use in my own experience with all of internet and marketing work I have done. I am even learning more everyday and I am able and willing to help people as much as I can to be successful and reach those goals. Now that is something, I enjoy the most.

No one is going to push you to do better but they will hold you back so that you don’t and wont out shine them either.

You don’t get paid for how hard you work; you get paid for the value you give to this world. Are you willing to sacrifice to truly reach your goals? What is the skill you want the world to know about? That is what TaylorLyfe truly is, welcome to the family.
