Innovation and a pioneering entrepreneurial spirit have been the hallmark of North East Scotland’s energy sector for over fifty years.

Today, it is home to the highest concentration of energy supply chain companies anywhere in the UK. ETZ Ltd is working hard to significantly enhance an innovative ecosystem that is second to none, helping entrepreneurial businesses grow and flourish as part of the transition to new and green energies.

The Energy Transition Zone is a 250-hectare site close to the new £420 million Aberdeen South Harbour with premium development opportunities.

The Energy Transition Zone has a combination of revitalised commercial properties alongside a new release of catalytic greenfield development sites providing businesses with the enviable opportunity to invest in the largest dedicated energy transition complex in Scotland.

Scale-up your Business

We are building the UK's first state-of-the-art Energy Incubator & Scale Up Hub (EISH) as the transformational anchor project within the Innovation Campus in the Energy Transition Zone. This unique 3,000 metre square facility will catalyse industrial, workshop, collaboration and co-working space with a dynamic targeted support ecosystem to nurture start-ups and accelerate growing supply chain companies to success in the global energy market.

Collaboration and knowledge-sharing are key to growing a new or established business and the incubator will provide facilities to form a dynamic industrial community to exchange ideas, share best practices, and form partnerships with supply chain peers, industry developers, operators, institutions, colleges and universities. This network will encourage innovation, accelerate development and drive the adoption of new energy industry solutions.

The facility itself will be constructed on net zero principles, taking into consideration the overall circular economy, the building’s energy performance, its energy strategy – how are we going to heat, cool and light it – the surrounding landscape and biodiversity and how it fits within the community and place.

Our clear aim is to help your business make a step-change in the development, manufacturing and internationalisation of technology and services focused on green energy solutions. The Incubator and Scale Up Hub is scheduled to open in 2024 and by locating within it or within the wider Innovation Campus, you will be at the very heart of the UK’s most dynamic energy transition ecosystem.

The Support to succeed

We are partnering with the very best in the business in terms of providing your organisation with the support required to succeed.

Scottish Enterprise, bp, the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland and the Net Zero Technology Centre (NZTC) will provide mentors, business support, industry experts and specialised equipment to refine concepts, support pilots and prototyping and initiate small scale manufacturing. In essence, the Scale Up Hub and wider Innovation Campus will be a one-stop-shop to develop products and services and bring these to market.

Links to the Region’s accelerator programmes and training courses will be formed through close working with partner accelerator programmes, such as Net Zero Technology Centre TechX Programme, and dedicated programmes hosted by our world-class education institutions - Robert Gordon University and the University of Aberdeen.

You will also benefit from accessing the transformational anchor projects of other campuses, such as the world’s first National Floating Wind Innovation Centre and the Energy Transition Skills Hub. Furthermore, existing infrastructure and physical assets held by a range of supply chain companies and institutions will be leveraged, alongside regular supply chain community-building activity coordinated by ETZ Ltd.
