Invest in Women - International Women’s Day 2024
Literal Humans | B Corp
We grow the good. Certified B Corp growth strategy partner agency for B2B SaaS, tech for good startups, and nonprofits.
This year, the theme of International Women’s Day is 'Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress' — but let’s not gloss over the realities of inclusion in the nonprofit world: 75% of the workforce is female, yet a mere 18% of women have cracked the CEO ceiling.
Even those who make it to the top face a pay gap that’s more of a chasm: male nonprofit leaders earn an average of 23% more than their female counterparts.
It’s a glaring signal that while we’ve come far, there’s still a long way to go on the road to genuine inclusion and equality.

How Girls Who Code Uses Awareness Campaigns to Inspire Inclusion
We’ve long been admirers of Girls Who Code, a nonprofit that aims to close the gender gap in technology.
We also admire their marketing strategies and advocacy efforts, which have generated 13 billion+ engagements globally through events and campaigns that advocate for progress in STEM and spotlight women making change in their communities.
Campaigns have included a digital visual album, a collaboration with Lizzo, the world’s largest online #MarchForSisterhood, and #SisterhoodStory, a virtual event series in collaboration with Apple.
How ChickTech Uses Branding To Reclaim Gender Stereotypes
ChickTech, a nonprofit committed to making the tech industry more accessible to women and non-binary individuals of all ages, is on a mission to cultivate a tech culture that’s inclusive to everyone.?
The term “chick” is a playful yet powerful reclamation of the word, chosen to signal that women and non-binary people not only deserve a seat at the table in tech but that they’re redesigning the table itself.
However, the folks at ChickTech acknowledge that it doesn’t resonate with everyone they aim to support.?

In response, they’re actively seeking feedback from their community to guide the brand’s evolution to greater inclusivity.
This open call for community input is a strategic move to engage their audience and align the brand with the needs and values of its stakeholders and supporters.?
It’s a thoughtful approach to branding that recognizes the importance of staying connected and relevant to the community ChickTech serves.
