Inventor available to revolutionize your business

So my (now former) employer lost parts of the NASA contract and I got caught up in the layoff. I will be available for interviews and making next decision within next few weeks. Like always: I expect to get multiple offers and pick what feels like the best fit within the month.

Once I take a position: it takes something significant to make me change that position.

Here are a list of things that have caused me to find previous employers unsuitable to continue that I would like to avoid. This will determine real quick if we are a fit because we can weed out companies that wont comply with these requirements: lets save everyone a bunch of time and headaches right from the start???

Requirements:

  1. Chain of command/org chart.

I am an engineer, inventor, and programmer.  I only have interest in positions where that technical track chain of command reports to exclusively technical roles until the top and no technical decisions are made absent technical leadership. An engineer and programmer should NOT report to someone who cannot understand tech, engineering or programming. A dysfunctional chain of command has project engineering reporting to HR, Accounting/Finance, sales, marketing, or any other non-technical role. This is because of a once-bitten experience with HR assuming the role of general management with oversight of technology and technical staff. Optimal results do not happen with dysfunctional Org charts and companies with broken org charts consistently underperform.

2. Problem solving/suggestions/observations

We cannot solve problems that we cannot talk about. See something, say something. Not every idea will be a good idea or even a workable idea. If you want the genius ideas that create multi-million dollar inventions: you must be willing to hear ALL ideas. No need to ACT on all ideas, but be OPEN to HEAR all ideas because one of my inventions started out as a joke. I cant always tell which ideas will inspire the genius: so let the flow happen without taking offense. Only 2 employers during my entire career have ever let me invent and innovate. Do this and I will promise results.

3. No idea/policy/procedure/rule/concept/directive is sacred (not even our own)

Another innovation and invention requirement. I would rather have questions that cannot be answered than answers that cannot be questioned. My core philosophy is KAIZEN: the practice of constant incremental improvement. I will analyze and over analyze each and every situation/policy/rule/directive until I have mastered all that there is to know about it and considered that situation for the optimal method of success attainment and improvement. Any new information may result in a re-evaluation and new suggestions for improvement. Ideas do NOT deserve respect: people do. Question everything and ways to do better will be found. Could be from an old expert who has seen it done better some where else; but even a first-job intern comes in with a fresh perspective: within their questions may be the very catalyst for innovation or improvement. Users have taught many things; especially non-technical luddites who struggle with tech and force us to up our game!! The ideas can come from anyone at any time and the ideas can be worth millions. This is why people are our greatest asset. Listen to everyone. Suggest to make time to hear everyone because anyone can have the seed of the next innovation.

4. Commitment to quality

As a trans person: I have experienced a whole lot of discrimination during my career which has only made me work harder to be twice as good to get half of the opportunities so the last thing that I can do is alienate any client. Because of this I simply will not work with nor recommend inferior product solutions or services and this point has caused me to depart a few different companies. My name is attached and affiliated with the results and this is why I am skilled in best quality pro-AV and commercial-AV NOT consumer AV. This is why I only have in depth appreciation of a select few top AV brands and simply no interest in also-ran products that do not perform well enough to meet strict minimum standards. My reputation is on the line with each and every project: I simply have no desire to taint my reputation with mediocrity nor inferiority. I have left jobs over substandard products used on key client sites and I have left jobs over substandard services provided by subcontractors who were not providing acceptable levels of service to the client.

5. Put Client First

If we do not act in the interests of our client: how can we earn their trust? Trust is the foundation of all relationships. Failure to act in the client interest is at best a short-term strategy that is precisely why I was laid off from my otherwise incredible position at a once-in-a-lifetime world class project. Some portions of the contract were not acting in the interest of the client.

6. Collaboration/listening

Alone we are but a drop, together we are the ocean. But if we are not in harmony: we cannot be as successful. If we cannot collaborate: we will be inferior to a team that plays well together. We may not like all of the ideas: but we must hear all of the ideas in order to find optimal solutions and any idea could be the seed of the most powerful and effective solution. Brainstorming works. Listening to one another is the only way to get everyone rowing the same direction and in sync.

Why you want me on your team (what I bring)

These criteria are essential to driving my interest and creativity. It is a lot to ask: but I am looking for the next place to drive innovation and invention. I have ZERO interest in creating mediocrity. Have done conference systems, presentation systems, entertainment systems and all are easy but with innovation and inventiveness can become extremely fun. It only becomes fun when we think of ways to get the most out of the otherwise mundane and cookie cutter solutions. Find new ways to automate, new ways to improve user experience, durability, reliability, stability. Problem solving is absolutely addictive.

Bonus: Public Trust NACLC security clearance until 2023.

I am not cheap, but once my income demands are met; we can focus on the fun and fit. Put me in a collaborative environment and the results will be game changing. You can leverage my attitude, enthusiasm, experience, skill, and knowledge exponentially across your team. I taught programming and hardware classes and have over a decade of experience teaching users and admins alike. Look at my LinkedIn recommendations? This is just the few who were on LinkedIn. For each one of these: I have helped dozens more. Regardless of the role: my presence will be game-changing as I love to serve, guide, and develop a team by constant growth, analysis, collaboration, development of new skills and improvements. No matter how good that we are: we can always find ways to improve. #olegvishnepolsky
