Number System got enormous history from Egyptian civilization to Modern age. It took a long term effort to achieve at the current number system.

Modern number system came from Medieval, Medieval came from Arabic, Arabic in term came from Hindu, and the Hindu came from Brahmi.

Regardless of invention, the modern number system used today is called Arabic or Hindu-Arabic because the Arabs are the ones to bring it to Europe. The combination of 10 digits (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0) were invented by Indians. The Fibonacci, who is also known as Leonardo Pisano Bigollo, introduced the Arabic numbers to Europe in the 12th century.
