Invent The Change November Impact Summary

Invent The Change November Impact Summary

2022 is coming to a close but November was still packed with inspiration and impact! From experiments with celebrity TV Show hosts to explaining how flies just appear in the trash and a passion filled keynote at the SHPE National Convention.... here are some highlights of the STEM impact in November!

"It's Not Magic, It's Science!" Reaching "Celebrity Status"

Earlier this year "It's Not Magic, It's Science!" made it's debut on National Television as part of my semifinals run on American Ninja Warrior (Season 14, Episode 6)! Host Akbar Gbajabiamila was mind-blown by the experiment and brought great STEM commentary to my run. He loved it so much that I flew out to Los Angeles to spend a day conducting "It's Not Magic, It's Science!" experiments with Akbar and his 3 children! We had a blast, learned a lot and even played a few science pranks on dad! This experience was proof that "It's Not Magic, It's Science!" is bringing families together for science experiences that are as entertaining as they are educational!

"If my science class was like this I would have been the next Bill Nye!" - Akbar

14 years ago I attended my first? SHPE National?Convention and it changed my life! Now I had the opportunity to give back as one of the keynote speakers on SHPE's FEARLESS track! Curated by the SHPE CEO Dr. Chris Wilkie and sponsored by 罗克韦尔自动化 , this new 8-session series was meant to inspire attendees to take risks, conquer the fears, and lead a fulfilling life of clear purpose, defined intent, and maximum impact. I joined other STEM influencers, astronauts, CEOs, and leading experts to change lives at National Convention.

We also took time to invest in the local community with a STEM competition for local high school students thanks to Boeing !

New Mystery Science Lesson!

As a Mystery Guide for Discovery Education's Mystery Science I help kids stay curious by creating better explanations for millions of students! The first ten years of life are the years of peak curiosity. These are the years when children form habits of thinking that will live with them for the rest of their lives. This is when they form their view of the world. This is the opportunity to nurture each child’s burning curiosity, guide them as they explore their world, and ensure they develop the most important skill of all: the ability to figure things out for themselves.

This month I answered elementary school student Caleb's question: Why do flies just appear in the trash? Subscribe to my YouTube channel to view other content I've created with Mystery Science!?YouTube - Jay Flores
