"It's Not Magic, It's Science!" Takes the Stage at the American Ninja Warrior Semifinals!

I can’t remember ever seeing a Hispanic scientist on television or movies when I was growing up. This moment before my American Ninja Warrior semifinals run is why I never gave up on the dream! I want girls and boys across the world to know that there is no such thing as what a scientist looks like! All you need is a little curiosity and a desire to explore!

This TV moment was a big step towards my vision of a world where science is celebrated and young girls and boys are empowered to invent the change they want to see in the world!

I am also honored by this amazing?#NinjaWarrior?fan art! The artist chose to feature me because his son was inspired by the “It’s Not Magic, It’s Science!” experiment I performed on the show! Now he watches my science videos on YouTube ????

I hope this art and my performance on the show tell the story that?#STEM?is for everyone! You can even do science experiments in shorts and a T-shirt right before conquering obstacles! ??

The image on the left is from me supporting the?FIRST?world championship! The middle image is from my American Ninja Warrior semifinals run. The image on the right is from promotion of my?Invent The Change?shirt which has raised thousands of dollars to support diversity and access in youth robotics via?FIRST! I also love the?science/space?imagery and my brand names along the edges.

"It's Not Magic, It's Science! Live Tour Updates

We've taken the magic behind the science on the road for a live show that's as entertaining as it is educational! Our first stop in Detroit presented by Ford Motor company reached more than students and provided 220 "It's Not Magic, It's Science!" kits for students to take home. 200 kits went to students from an underserved majority Hispanic community and 20 more were provided as prizes to students who participated in the Invention Convention US Nationals at the Henry Ford Museum!

Next stop MILWAUKEE!! Next week we'll be at Discovery World in Milwaukee, WI thanks to presenting sponsor Rockwell Automation! 150 students from the community will benefit from the live performance at the museum and the following day we'll be performing our first parent workshop! The parent workshop will equip employees in the Rockwell Automation Parent and Caretaker employee resource group with insight and tools to better support their children on their STEM journey. Employees that attend will also take home an "It's Not Magic, It's Science!" experiment kit for each of their children! The kit paired with the workshop insights will set them up for a family activity that's as educational as it is entertaining!

We are actively looking for a presenting sponsor for our next stop in late September (location flexible) which would pair well as a Hispanic Heritage Month outreach activity for the sponsoring company. In October, we're heading to Texas for stops in Austin and Houston (sponsorship opportunities still available. In November we're taking the tour international! More details on that coming soon! Want your city/company be part of the "It's Not Magic, It's Science!" Live Tour? Contact us here.

Make48 Milwaukee

I served as the emcee for Make48's city series event in Milwaukee, WI where eight teams competed in a 48 hour innovation competition with the theme of "outdoor interactive play" which was presented by challenge sponsor Harley Davidson. What resulted were some of the best new playground component prototypes I've ever seen! The top team will advance on to compete in Make48's National event, a filmed PBS docuseries where I will have the honor to serve as host! Last season's National event which I also hosted will air on PBS this fall!

University of Wisconsin's 50th Engineering Summer Program

In 2006, I participated in the University of Wisconsin Madison's Engineering Summer Program. It helped me understand what a career in engineer could mean for me and also helped bridge the calculus gap for me so that I would be ready for the rigor of college math. This month I had the honor of addressing the 50th cohort of the program along with their parents!
