Intuition Vs Ego... How do you know the difference?

If I had a dollar for every person who ever told me, "Just listen to your heart," I'd have a solid retirement plan in place.

I used to think, what does that even mean??

What I've come to understand is that there is a difference between ego and intuition. To distinguish between the two, I have to be connected, rooted, and balanced within myself. If I'm running from one thing to the next without making a real effort to disconnect to reconnect, I am most certainly thinking with my ego and emotions.?

Here are some ways that I identify when it's my heart/intuition vs my ego speaking:?

  • Feels emotional = Probably ego
  • Feels factual like "I have to pee" = Probably intuition
  • Feeling it on the surface = Probably ego
  • Feeling it deep within = Probably intuition
  • Feels like survival = Definitely ego
  • Feels aligned = Definitely intuition
  • Fighting to align myself with something = Likely ego
  • Feels right even if it's scary = Likely intuition?
  • First thought = Usually intuition
  • Rambling thoughts = Usually ego??

1 Initiative to Try This Week

Practice getting to know yourself better so you can understand when it's your ego/emotions vs. intuition/heart speaking.?

Here's how you can do that:?

Identify the Ego Voice

The ego often speaks from fear, insecurity, or a desire for control. Before responding or making a decision, ask yourself these questions:

  • What am I afraid might happen?
  • Am I concerned with how others will perceive me?
  • Do I feel the need to prove myself or be "right"?

Tune into Intuition

Next, shift your focus to your intuition—this is the calm, inner knowing that often comes without pressure. It is not forceful or anxious. To tap into it, take a few deep breaths (optional), and ask yourself:

  • What feels right for me in this moment, regardless of what others think?
  • What decision aligns with my core values and inner peace?
  • What would I do if fear wasn’t a factor?
