Intuition — A Special Power Only For Gifted People. Or So I Thought!
Recently, I was out with some friends, surrounded by moms and kids, and the usual chaos that comes when little ones are let loose in a restaurant. As we were getting ready to leave, I noticed that one of the kids had grabbed a bowl of mayo from the table. Something inside me told me to take it back from her — but I hesitated, thinking that maybe she would put it down. A second later, the bowl slipped from her tiny hands and fell down, and broke.
You might say it was logical — kids often drop things — but this is why it’s funny how intuition works.
You feel that subtle nudge to act many times a day, but you pause, rationalize it, and chalk it up to ‘habit’ or ‘routine’, and let the moment slip away.
We’ve all been there, second guessing ourselves instead of trusting our inner guidance system!
But what exactly is this inner guidance system, and how does it work?
Generally referred to as ‘intuition’, everyone has a different way of tagging it— you can take your pick: a gut feeling, a hunch, an instinct, something in the air, an impulse, a sixth sense, an inner voice, or anything else that if I missed. It is what guides us in the direction of what we need most for a specific moment.
Let me quickly take you through an imaginary day when you do not plan anything and leave everything on your two most important faculties: mind & intuition.
You wake up in the morning, and instead of following your freelancing habitual routine, you let these faculties take over. You just observe the delicate dance that takes place between them and follow what pulls you more.
You: I just wish to have a nice comfortable day today, how should I begin: with tea or with coffee?
Intuition: “Love, it is a great decision to skip the routine today, go with ‘coffee’ but also warm the croissant you saved from yesterday.”
Mind: “Wait, what? hold on. You have a million things to do today, send cold emails, find new projects, etc. Enjoy your hot beverage with work”
You lean into your intuition’s suggestion and enjoy the best morning you’ve had in a while, in your balcony.
Intuition: “Told you, it’s exactly what you needed.”
Mind: “We’re behind schedule now.”
Later, you ask them both again: What’s next?
Intuition: “Go outside for a walk, but wait, don’t forget to carry the dog biscuits with you.”
Mind: “Bad idea sweetheart, you have to send cold emails to fetch new projects — and — — - ”
Ignoring the mind’s chatter, you head out. You start to brisk walk and find your favourite dog playing in the designated area for animals.
While feeding that dog, you bump into someone and begin to have a fascinating conversation around how 5D designs are evolving by the hour and how can one pace up with the advancement; a subject that intrigues you.
Walking back, you marvel at the coincidence.
Intuition: “Now you see why I asked you to carry dog biscuits with you?”
Mind: “This is just a coincidence, Don’t read too much into it!’’
Now you start to have fun with this experimentation with intuition, and this time you directly point to it and ask: So tell me what’s next?
Intuition: “Call Sarah.”
And as usual, your mind meddles into this too, out of habit!
Mind: “Wait, what? You haven’t spoken to Sarah in months, why would you call her?”
With the newfound trust in your intuition, you simply go ahead and make the call.
It turns out Sarah had been thinking about you too and wanted to approach you about collaborating on an interesting project. And now you are speechless!!
Intuition: “This is nothing love. You do not know but I’ve always got your back.”

My dear readers, I would like to highlight that the imaginary day outlined above isn’t really that far-fetched. There are people who only rely on their inner voice to go about their decisions all the time. And I could only write on this subject confidently, because I am one of those people.
Let’s dive a little bit into specifics and try and simplify some of the mental constructs you might be carrying around ‘intuition’.
Yes, we all have intuition. It’s a natural part of us, like our nervous or digestive system. But unlike an organ, it’s harder to spot or measure, which makes it easier to ignore.
As we grow, we build layers and layers of information and conditioning influenced by the world around us. Over time, these layers clutter our minds, resulting in information overload.
While these layers of information fuel the mind, they also act as blockers to the inner voice. In this state, even if intuition knocks on the door, how would you know whether it’s intuition or just the mind’s incessant chatter?
So if intuition is not a gift only for the chosen ones, then why only some are able to exercise it fully?
See, the people who identify as ‘intuitive’ tend to have quieter minds with less mental chatter, which allows them to receive guidance from a higher source of intelligence.
I know people who may not necessarily know how to tap into intuition on purpose, but because they are naturally trained to organize their thoughts, they allow space for intuitive guidance to step in when needed. I also know people, like myself, who have honed this skill through practice over the years.
It all depends on how well you organize your mental space.
In today’s busy, always ‘on’ world, our minds constantly buzz with thoughts and information overload, so it’s not surprising that intuition might have tried to reach out to you multiple times, but you were unknowingly busy ghosting it.
If you’re just starting out, try using intuition to guide you through smaller decisions like choosing between chocolate ice cream or strawberry. I am not kidding, it works wonders.
Eventually, you can build up to decisions where the stakes are higher, like whether you should stay in your corporate job or start your own entrepreneurial venture.
As you begin decluttering your mind, you will start recognizing intuition from the mental chatter. Over time, this will sharpen your intuition, and you’ll stop second guessing yourself.
Unlike in the past, when intuition was often denied, the world has begun to accept its existence today. As human consciousness elevates, all these faculties elevate with it, and we are witnessing more and more people talking about its profoundness.
The ones who really understand what ‘intuition’ brings to the table will relate when I say:
“It’s amusing to see how we spend the first half of our lives adding layers through education, societal expectations, and experiences — only to spend the second half peeling them off so that we can reconnect with what has always been within us!”
Dear readers, this subject is extremely close to my heart, and I will continue to share insights about this hidden power within us for as long as I can.
In the next article, I will talk about the important role of ‘logic’ and how one can confidently navigate between rational thought and intuition, depending on the situation. I will also share tools and techniques to help you hone and harness the power of intuition to your advantage.
Stay tuned!

5 个月Sumegha Embracing intuition as a guiding force is invaluable, and it’s inspiring to see how you share your journey with others. It’s a reminder that cultivating this skill can lead to deeper insights and clarity in our decision-making.
This reminds me of two sayings 1. When someone says he wants peace of mind he usually means he wants peace from his mind. 2. Second is poetry from fantastic movie Satya..."Bheje ki sunega toh marega Kallu"... Loose translation "Oh great Kallu uncle you will die if you apply your mind too much"
