Introduction to the Newsletter

Chief Talent & Diversity Officer at Royal Caribbean Group
If there’s one thing I’ve learned through my L&D geekhood, it’s that repetition & relevance are key.
We “know” so much, have accumulated so many “lessons” through the years, but if they’re not top of mind, we tend not to apply them … perpetuating the knowing-doing gap.
So I’m conducting a little experiment, pulling together 4 elements of my identity …
… to bring those kernels of insights top of mind and put them into action so you never read children’s books the same way again ??
I’ve identified 3 archetypes who could benefit from this endeavor:
THE BARELY TOLERANT:?
Are you a parent who hates bedtime-reading (though, to be clear, you’d never actually confess this based on those research studies touting its benefits)??
Do you constantly try to pawn off this night-time ritual onto your partner?
I know plenty of parents who get bored or outright dread the thought of reading said book for the umpteenth time, especially if requiring a singalong voice and an excessively cheery demeanor at 8pm.??
This could help you tolerate those precious minutes a bit better by linking them to talent, change, or learning tidbits … all in the comfort of that Paw-Patrol-laden twin bed.
THE PARENT EFFICIENCY HACKER:?
Are you someone who wants to make the most of each and every activity?
Do you optimize the time your conditioner needs to stay in your hair by brushing your teeth simultaneously or use your commute time to log some Coursera hours towards that AI analytics certificate on your development checklist??

This could help you bond with your little nugget, feeding a future love of reading and books, all while surfacing your own recollection of juicy change and business insights.
The more you read, the more you’re likely to apply, growing your mental models, increasing your lateral thinking muscle while putting your little one to bed.??
THE LITERARY SURRENDERER:?
Are you a parent whose pile of books-to-be-read just keeps growing??
Has its height reached that of a side table yet?
Is that guilt eating you up inside?
OR do you yearn to use your own literary analysis prowess but have yet to open a work of literary beauty??
Fret no more!?You can now feed your intellectual hunger through your child’s nighttime reading list in ways you never imagined.?
Either as a reader of or contributor to this series, your hunger shall be satiated.?
After all, there’s something to learn from everything.
Whoever you are, I invite you to?#TurnThePage ?and increase your change literacy, one children’s book at a time ...
