Introduction about TAKARAMONO

INTRODUCTION

Its my maiden newsletter. I wanted to write like the best writers I follow. I received a lot of self-training and encouragement about writing a newsletter by the many posts I came across on LinkedIN.

Writing has been a pastime from a very early part of my life. Courtesy - My dad! He read widely and wrote everything in his notepad made of one sided papers....carefully and meticulously stitched up by dad himself!! This was when I was a kid, and grew up watching role models, people who walked their talks. It has an impact! Unlike present days when people love advising without understanding!!

Having decided to write, I spend months finding out what I wished to write. I have many interests but I found that one can have just 1 newsletter. Really?? My interests include topics about Japan, psychology, Climate Change, animal rights, neuroscience, insights from everyday happenings around us or around the globe. So, I spend days wondering how to bring all my interests under one newsletter and enable readers to understand what to expect from me! It took weeks and weeks. I did not start writing or speak about it as I could not make sense of what and how I would write. I finally decided to write about Japan related topics only!

I have the primal wish to teach.... if I teach by mouth, I fail as am not a great teacher. I feel incomplete.... useless!

But want to share ,can I say? Yes... I figured out that I wanted to share every unknown, queer fact about Japan, its culture and history.... also the language!

Next was the name.. I wanted a name which would convey an all encompassing purpose of my newsletter.... After writing many flamboyant Japanese words and rejecting them as not being easily understood/ identified with / remembered by readers... I decided to keep it simple.

My newsletter is hence named TAKARAMONO - Precious thing . I would say that whatever I find attractive or unique about Japan is not known by many. Isn't that akin to a rare find? Finding something so unique that you read about it and consider it precious.

My logo is a cat pic drawn by an Edo period ukiyo-e Japanese artist, Tsukioka Yashitoshi. I found this unique as a cat lover myself, that Japan has been home to painters and artists who adore cats and love their acts, as mundane an act as a cat catching a rat?? Cats are indeed unique and so is Japan!!

That name of newsletter and the logo were truly matching to my newsletter's purpose!!

I will soon change the fonts and the logo ! But had to use the present ones as I wanted to make a start!!

As its my maiden attempt, I will publish newsletters biweekly-once in two weeks. Will slowly increase frequency based on response and reactions.

Hope you enjoy and engage with my newsletters!!

Happy Reading!

Cheers!
