An Introduction to SMT VET

The vision of SMT VET is to be a top-performing company for veterinary testing in South Africa, providing excellent customer service, constantly improving our performance and aiding the food industry in South Africa to produce quality products.

SMT VET was born from SMT LABS (microbiological testing facilities), which was established in August 2013 in Bloemfontein. After opening a second microbiological testing laboratory in Johannesburg in 2019, SMT LABS expanded by opening the veterinary laboratory in Centurion in 2021.

SMT VET is focused particularly on the well-being of livestock, especially on poultry farms. This is of key importance to ensure food security and the well-being of poultry consumers in South Africa.

To receive accurate and ethical results within the fastest possible turn-around time can be complicated. SMT VET strives to continuously improve turn-around time and provide accurate and ethical results at all times. We would like to partner with our clients to ensure a high standard of food quality and security provided for all South Africans.
