Introduction - Series Title still TBD

This content is all my own. This is an introduction to a series. I am still looking for a good title for the series.

So far I have come up with 2 titles for the series.

The first is:

I have always wanted to give a Ted Talk.

and the second is:

What the ****, ahem, HECK, is the matter with you?

So considering the second, title, please read it again, but pretend you are hearing it your mother's voice.

I included the H word, because that is how my mother always said it.

Do consider the phrase, even without the H word. "What's the matter with you !?!?"

In mom's voice, depending on the specific moment, it could translate to

"What did you do?"

or maybe even,

"Why did you just do that?"

However, taken literally in print, it could translate into

"What is important to you?"

suggested by the reduction of words down to

"What matter(s)"

In considering the first title, I have always wanted to give a Ted Talk. That is true. The idea of having hundreds if not thousands of people to simultaneously consume my stories is overwhelming. While I have never declined an opportunity to speak before any group, I have not sought out the opportunity to do so. My high score is probably somewhere between 200-275 people.

So the idea of giving a Ted Talk, while wonderful sounding, has passed, for me at least. Compliments of Laryngeal cancer. I cannot speak anymore. Anything Talk is off the menu, including Ted. Now, I could give a "TED on stage making faces at you while a mechanical voice reads what I have composed days ago" kind of presentation, but no Ted Talk for me...

It's really too bad, too. Because, I really miss out being able to use inflection, enunciation, and just simple tone of voice, while speaking. As this post relies on typed text, none of those communication tools are at my disposal. Even sarcasm requires so much more effort to wield effectively.

It has been suggested, that we are who we are, due of the collection of our experiences we have lived. These stories will be related to my computing history, education, and professional experiences. I have 40 years of just ironic stuff to draw upon , including a written reprimand for CHATTING in capital letters, how I stuffed the ballot box in order to win a company paid trip to Jamaica, or the time I turned a 4% raise into a 37% raise.

I will try and post a weekly episode for the series. Lets see how far this takes us.

Looking forward to it! Incidentally, I read this in your voice.
