Nepheline is an aluminum silicate mineral widely used in building materials, ceramics, glass and other industries. Since nepheline often contains impurities in nature, direct use will affect the quality of the product, so it is usually necessary to purify it through the mineral processing process to improve its industrial application value. 1. The main process flow of nepheline ore dressing
·Crushing and Screening
The initial treatment of nepheline ore includes crushing and screening, to control the size of ore particles within a reasonable range, which is convenient for subsequent processes. Crushing is usually divided into two stages: coarse crushing and fine crushing. Usually, a jaw crusher is used for coarse crushing (about 50-200 mm), and then a cone crusher or impact crusher is used for fine crushing (10-50 mm). Screening equipment is used to classify mineral particles, generally between 3-10 mm, so that the particle size meets the requirements of subsequent grinding and flotation. Screening equipment is commonly used Vibrating screen or cyclone screen.
·Grinding and Classification
In order to improve the efficiency of nepheline ore dressing, grinding and classification are key steps. Nepheline ore usually requires a finer particle size, generally below 74 microns (200 mesh), and most require 60-70% to pass through the 74 micron (200 mesh) sieve. So that the effective components can be separated in the subsequent process. Grinding equipment can choose ball mills, and Raymond mills, depending on the properties of the minerals and production requirements. During the grinding process, the grinding fineness must be controlled to avoid over-grinding of the minerals. The classification equipment commonly used is a spiral classifier or a hydrocyclone, which is used to classify the ground material according to the particle size, generally between 74 microns (200 mesh) and 150 microns (100 mesh), to ensure that the appropriate particle size enters the next process.
·Flotation process
Flotation is one of the main methods for nepheline beneficiation, and the enrichment of effective components is achieved by adding flotation reagents. Nepheline ore flotation usually uses cationic collectors (usually 10-100 g/t (grams/ton) and frothers (usually 20-200 g/t), and the flotation efficiency is improved by adjusting the dosage of reagents and pH value, and the pH value is adjusted between 5-10. The flotation time is generally between 5-20 minutes, and the pulp concentration is controlled between 20-40%. The commonly used equipment in the flotation process is a mechanical agitator flotation machine or an aerated flotation machine, which can provide sufficient bubbles to contact with mineral particles and improve the separation effect of the concentrate.
·Magnetic separation process
For nepheline ore with high iron impurities, magnetic separation process can be added to remove iron minerals. Magnetic separation process can use weak magnetic or strong magnetic equipment (such as a?magnetic separator) to separate magnetic and non-magnetic minerals. The separation particle size during magnetic separation is generally 0.1-5 millimeters (mm), and the most suitable particle size is generally 0.2-1 millimeters (mm). The magnetic separation process is usually carried out before or after grinding to ensure that impurities are fully removed and improve the purity and quality of nepheline.
·Other auxiliary processes
In the nepheline beneficiation process, some auxiliary processes such as desliming and dehydration are usually included. Desliming is used to remove fine muddy particles in the slurry to improve flotation efficiency, and dehydration is carried out in the final stage to remove moisture from the concentrate through filtering or concentration equipment to facilitate subsequent processing and transportation.
2. Common equipment for nepheline beneficiation
·Crushing equipment
Jaw crusher: used in the coarse crushing stage, it has the characteristics of large processing capacity, low energy consumption, strong adaptability, and can effectively crush large pieces of ore.
Cone crusher: suitable for secondary crushing, which can further refine the ore particles and improve the overall ore dressing efficiency.
·Grinding equipment
Ball mill: it is a common equipment for nepheline grinding, suitable for wet and dry grinding of various ores, and can effectively control the grinding fineness.
Raymond mill: suitable for finer grinding needs, but the output is relatively low. For small-scale ore dressing plants, raymond mill can be given priority.
Vertical mill: it has the advantages of high grinding efficiency and small footprint. When the grinding fineness requirement is high, vertical mill can be selected.
·Classification equipment
Spiral classifier: widely used in the classification of nepheline ore dressing, it can classify fine-grained materials in the slurry to meet the needs of flotation or magnetic separation.
Hydrocyclone: It has the characteristics of high classification accuracy and large processing capacity, and is suitable for the classification of fine-grained minerals.
·Flotation equipment
Mechanical stirring flotation machine: suitable for nepheline flotation process, can provide a uniform bubble and pulp mixing environment, improve the flotation effect of minerals.
Aeration flotation machine: with higher aeration volume, suitable for large-scale flotation treatment, can further improve the grade and purity of nepheline concentrate.

Magnetic separator: There are many types of magnetic separators used to remove iron impurities. According to the content and magnetic strength of iron impurities, magnetic separation equipment with different magnetic field strengths can be selected to achieve the best iron removal effect.
