"Introduction to Natural Hazards Mitigation Planning"? - Coffee Break Webinar Series

"Introduction to Natural Hazards Mitigation Planning" - Coffee Break Webinar Series

The FEMA Region 10 planning team had the pleasure delivering the first of twelve webinars the FEMA Region 10 Mitigation Planning team will offer in 2017, as part of the Mitigation Planning Coffee Break series. Joining us were Tim Cook (Washington State Hazard Mitigation Officer), and Stacy Fawell (Lummi Nation Natural Resource Analyst).

The training focused on educating participants about....

  • Explaining the value of mitigation in improving community resilience
  • Identifying the step in the mitigation planning process
  • Identifying the different stakeholders to involve in the mitigation planning process
  • Locating resources to develop and implement mitigation plans

We highlighted that a critical connection in community resilience is the connection between community design and natural hazards impacts and how emergency managers and community planners need to work together.

You can watch the 1-hour recording here. Also, download the presentation here.
