Introduction to Mars Colonization

Living on Mars: An Ambitious Dream

Were you ever able to imagine living on any other planet than Earth as a child? If yes, then you are not alone. However, for those who like the structure of this sentence, it is cool in theoretical sense only, in the actual world it is the most complicated, dangerous and costly proposal in the whole human history. Stuck on the moon, floating 150 million miles away on the proverbial sea of frozen desert rocks, Imagine the equivalent of constructing Rome, launching Apollo 11, deploying the ISS, and colonizing North America all simultaneously.

Setting foot on the surface of Mars demands the unity of effort to accomplish a task no astronauts have ever achieved before. This endeavor involves NASA, the traditional Old Guard of space exploration, and SpaceX spearheaded by the innovative mind of Elon Musk. Altogether, they want to break through the obstacles of the great filter, explain the Fermi Paradox, and bring humanity into the interplanetary civilization.

The Window of Opportunity

Musk himself often refers to a 'window in time.' Earth has been around for over three billion years, and now, in humanity’s lifetime, we are capable of going to another planet. This is a rare privilege for this generation, but it is also a great burden. For the first time in history, humanity has an opportunity to continue its expansion into space, but when it closes, we don't know.

Best case scenario: It is estimated that Earth may have another billion years of habitability. Worst-case: misfortune could happen at any moment. There is innate desire that runs in the blood of every human, and that is the desire to expand, to reach the unknown world. Like the saying goes we are explorers and survivors. The big question here is how do we transport ourselves there?
