  • Imaging Procedure Control Segment:
Some information that control transfer, and process Meta Data of HL7 Messages
  • Data Segment:
information and clinical data transfer from sender to receiver.

Common HL7 Segments:

  1. MSH -Message Header > information about a message
  2. EVN -Event Type > event information
  3. PID -Patient Identification > information about a patient
  4. PD1 - Additional Demographics
  5. PV1 -Patient Visit
  6. NTE -Notes and Comments for the PID
  7. MSA -Message acknowledgement segment > contains information sent while acknowledging another message
  8. NK1 -Next of Kin > information about the patient's other related parties
  9. OBR -Observation Request > information about an order
  10. OBX -Observation Report > information about a result
  11. ERR - Error Segment > add error comments to acknowledgment messages
