Express Mode in VB Studio

Redwood applications utilize Express Mode in VB Studio, enabling business users to configure processes and ensure data quality. Express Mode consists of two primary components:

  1. Business Rules
  2. Page Properties

1. Business Rules

Business Rules include several sub-components that help in configuring fields and regions based on specific criteria.

  • Configure Fields and Regions This feature is used to: Leverage predefined best practices or create custom rules based on criteria such as country or business unit. Set fields and regions as required or optional, read-only or editable, and control their visibility based on specific conditions. Default field values.
  • Validate Field Values This ensures the data entered is accurate and of high quality by validating the field values.

2. Page Properties

Page Properties are utilized to customize Redwood pages to meet your business requirements. For example, you can hide the evaluation panel in Connections.

Interplay Between Business Rules and Page Properties

  • Defaulting and Validating Field Values Default field values and validation rules can be used together for the same fields. This ensures that data quality and consistency are maintained while improving the user experience.
  • Combining Defaulting Rules with Display Rules You can combine rules that set default values for fields and those that control field visibility. For example, you can set a default date and make the field read-only.

Important Notes

  • Express Mode is the only mode supported by HCM (Human Capital Management), SCM (Supply Chain Management), and Procurement.
  • If Express Mode is unavailable, it means the page cannot be extended in this release.
