LED display screens are divided into indoor LED display screens and outdoor LED display screens according to the different use environments. The outdoor LED display must be in a box type. Outdoors are often affected by weather such as rain and fog, so the outdoor LED display must be waterproof. Due to the closed box structure of outdoor LED modules, it can be processed into an LED outdoor display screen box, which is then assembled into an outdoor full color LED display screen.

Waterproof LED Module

The waterproof treatment of outdoor full-color LED modules is very important. There are currently 3?types of outdoor LED display modules on the market. 1. The back of the module should be painted with conformal coating. 2. The PCB is filled with epoxy resin glue on both sides and is equipped with a fully sealed plastic kit. 3. An IP67 waterproof module with an all-aluminum housing.

Cabinet Structure

The most common traditional outdoor LED display box has an LED module with a display driver circuit board fixed inside the box. The switching power supply is installed on the back cover of the box. An exhaust fan, receiving card, air outlet, etc. are also installed on the back cover of the box. The inner and outer surfaces of the box are spray-coated with anti-corrosion, moisture-proof, anti-oxidation, flame-retardant and other functions to ensure the safety of the display screen.

Waterproof Test

Outdoor boxes are required to undergo a waterproof test before leaving the factory. Water is sprayed on the surface of the LED display for testing. After multiple tests, it is ensured that the protection level reaches IP65 and is truly waterproof before it is finally shipped to the customer. It is more recommended to use outdoor LED displays with IP67 protection level in seaside and rainy and snowy environments. It needs to undergo more stringent waterproof testing before leaving the factory.

Type 1: Simplified iron/aluminum cabinet

The simple cabinet is suitable for most outdoor LED display scenarios. The front side of this type of box has better waterproof performance, but the back side needs to rely on a steel structure for waterproofing, so the requirements for the steel structure are higher. However, this type of cabinet is currently used less and less by customers because of its high installation cost.

Type 2: Fully sealed waterproof iron/aluminum cabinet

The fully waterproof outdoor cabinet is suitable for most outdoor LED display scenarios. The waterproof performance of the front and back of this type of box is very good, and the waterproof requirements of the steel structure are not high. The weight of this type of cabinet is approximately 50Kg/sqm. So far, this type of box has become the first choice for outdoor LED displays because of its high cost performance. In addition, it can also support high-definition outdoor 2.5mm solution (minimum viewing distance 2.5 meters).

Type 3: Front maintenance waterproof box

The front maintenance waterproof LED screen is suitable for places where there is insufficient space behind the screen and can be maintained by opening it from the front. Different from simple boxes and fully outdoor waterproof boxes, the rear maintenance box requires access to the screen through the back for maintenance operations. Therefore, when the back of the screen cannot reach the space where people can freely enter, the front maintenance box needs to be used.

Type 4: Custom-shaped fully sealed waterproof iron/aluminum cabinet

Custom-shaped cabinets include curved, right-angled and double-sided LED display cabinets.

The main purpose of curved or right-angled outdoor LED displays is to achieve a more three-dimensional and vivid effect, and through 3D technology, the images on the display can be made more three-dimensional, improving the audience's viewing experience. Curved cabinets can present a more natural and smooth surface effect, while right-angled cabinets can be used to create a variety of geometric shapes and patterns.

Double-sided LED displays come in two varieties. The first type features a cabinet that opens from the front, which imposes certain size limitations. Typically, the height does not exceed 1920mm, as larger cabinets pose challenges for transportation. The second type is designed for front maintenance, allowing the module to be removed from the front for servicing. This cabinet design can be crafted into a seamless double-sided LED display.
