Introduction to AC sockets

An AC socket (also known as an alternating current socket) is a device used to connect an alternating current (AC) power source. This type of socket is widely used in homes, offices, and industrial environments to supply power to various electrical appliances and devices that require AC power.

Here are some main features and information about AC sockets:

1. Power type: AC sockets provide AC power, and their voltage and frequency vary by country and region (for example, the common voltage in the United States is 120V, 60Hz; while the common voltage in Europe is 230V, 50Hz).

2. Socket type:

NEMA sockets: widely used in regions such as the United States and Canada, classified according to the shape, size, and rated current of the sockets.

CEE sockets: used in Europe and other regions, including Schuko, Europlug, and other types.

Other international standards: Each region of the world has its own socket standards to ensure the safe use of electrical appliances and equipment.

3. Rated current and voltage: The socket usually indicates its rated current and voltage. Exceeding these limits may result in fire, electric shock, or other hazards.

4. Security features:

Grounding wire: Many sockets have grounding wires, which are used to guide static electricity or leakage current from the electrical casing into the ground, reducing the risk of electric shock.

Safety door: The child safety socket has a closable cover or safety door to prevent children from inserting their fingers or other objects into the socket hole.

Overcurrent protection: Some advanced sockets have overcurrent protection function, which automatically cuts off the power supply when the current exceeds the rated value.

5. Multi functionality and convenience:

USB socket: Some modern sockets not only provide standard AC sockets, but also include USB ports for convenient charging of devices such as mobile phones and tablets.

Smart socket: Connected via Wi Fi or Bluetooth, the smart socket allows users to remotely control the on/off of appliances through mobile applications or voice commands.

6. Installation and maintenance:

AC sockets should be installed in dry and ventilated areas, away from water and heat sources.

Regularly clean the socket to ensure that there is no accumulation of dust or debris.

Do not exert excessive force on the socket or insert mismatched plugs to avoid damaging the socket or causing danger.

7. Compliance and Certification: In order to ensure the safe use of electrical appliances and equipment, many countries require certification of electrical products, such as UL certification in the United States and CE certification in Europe. Similarly, AC sockets also need to comply with relevant safety standards and regulations.
