What was your dream job growing up? I always wanted to be a mermaid, until I realized they don’t make any money. No, actually I don’t remember having one specific dream job, but?according to my parents, people who knew me used to say I would end up in politics because I had so many strong opinions already as a kid.

What sparked your interest in Marketing? I think I was drawn to Marketing when I realized how versatile it can be. There are endless possibilities within marketing, and I really like how you can work within this field in all sorts of companies and industries - everything from the creative industries, to politics, to Management Consulting.

BCG has grown a lot the last few years, how has that effected you? There have been a lot of exciting changes in the last few years. With BCG growing as a company, our Marketing team has also grown which has been super fun. With more people on the team, we now have the time and resources to do more of the things we want to do, and more capacity to complete various projects. For example, we can now be a lot more creative in our work and move more of our production inhouse. It's also great to have more people to collaborate with - it makes work even more fun.

You work a lot on different projects, including planning and executing events, producing podcasts and staying in touch with BCG Alumni. What project are you most proud of so far? I would say that the projects I am most proud of at the moment would be the Mennesker & Maskiner podcast, as well as our Celebrating Alumni video series. Both projects are inspiring to work on because we get to meet so many talented people from different companies, and get insight to their knowledge. With Mennesker & Maskiner it is fascinating to learn more about what company leaders are doing to make their companies more digital and equipped to handle the future. And with Celebrating Alumni it is fun to talk to former BCGers about the exciting things they are working on now.

What personal skill have you used most during your time as a Senior Marketing Specialist here at BCG? A big part of my job is talking to people, and making sure other people are comfortable enough to talk and share their knowledge, so I would say good communication is key. Working on various projects at the same time I also have a lot of deadlines that usually overlap, which forces me work in a structured way.

What's your idea of a perfect Saturday? My perfect Saturday starts with sleeping in, followed by a long breakfast. Then I ideally go for a run outside or at the gym. I really enjoy good food and trying out new recipes, and I'm super lucky to live close to Maschmanns (a great fresh food market) so when I want to treat myself I go there to pick up some really good groceries. And to wrap up the perfect Saturday I would invite friends over for dinner and open a good bottle of wine.

My no. 1 rule to live by is... I don't really have a specific rule that I live by, but I do think it's important to try to not take everything so seriously. Allow yourself to have fun and enjoy big and small moments in life.

Vilde joined BCG in 2016 and is a Senior Marketing Specialist at the Oslo office. She holds a degree in Marketing and Brand Management from H?yskolen Kristiania.
