Introducing VIEWPOP? - a social network for user-generated 3D photos

Many (many) months ago my brother and I decided to start a little passion project after finding an old ViewMaster in a thrift store in the US. Things developed a little, the project got bigger and started gaining momentum, we hit some hurdles, we ‘pivoted’, and we went to a tech conference in Dublin and made some noise. I started bringing in some legendary friends to work on it with me, and then an investor gave us some money in exchange for equity. Today I’m proud to announce that this project now takes the form of an app called VIEWPOP, that as of yesterday (which quite fittingly would have been Pops’s birthday), is live on the App Store. Oh, and it's free.

VIEWPOP? is a social network that lets you capture and share 3D photos from your phone. It’s version 1.0, so yes, there’s room for improvement, and we’ll refine this as we get feedback and develop the product, but it’s a starting point and it's ready for download. I’d be super stoked if you could download it and check it out.

Starting something from scratch is testing, particularly while trying to balance a full-time job and family commitments, but I've found it the best way to learn, even if it does cost blood, sweat and tears. What you miss out on in sleep and social occasions, you make up for in career progression and personal growth with heaps of (often hard) little lessons along the way. We’re having fun with this, and as ambitious as it sounds, we want to change the way people create and share content. I’m excited to see where this can take us.
