Introducing Thrive's New Sleep Collection With Audible
Even coming into last year, Americans were already sleep deprived. And then on top of that, we have the disruption of the pandemic on our daily routines. This has taken such a toll on our sleep that it’s being called “coronasomnia.” Sleep is always essential to every aspect of our physical and mental well-being. But in extraordinary times of anxiety and stress like these, getting the sleep we need is more important than ever. Sleep is the foundation of a strong immune system, our mental resilience and our ability to focus and perform at our best — the very things we need to navigate the inevitable uncertainties of the next year and beyond.
A big part of getting the sleep we need is allowing our restless minds to wind down and say goodbye to the day. That’s why bedtime routines are so important. And it’s also why we’ve partnered with Audible to launch an exclusive collection of sleep experiences. Audible is the world’s leading creator and provider of audio storytelling, but the point of the Audible Sleep Collection isn’t to keep you on the edge of your seat. These bedtime stories, meditations and more are meant to become a key part of your nighttime routine, allowing you to let go of the day and drift off to sleep.
Bedtime story selections include those by Keke Palmer, who tells the story of the dreamcatcher, which has been passed down for generations within Ojibwe tribal communities and families, Nick Jonas on “The Perfect Swing” in baseball and Candace Parker, who shares a story about Fallingwater. There are also guided meditations by Gabrielle Bernstein, my sister, meditation teacher Agapi Stassinopoulous and yes, Diddy. Last year he asked me to be his sleep coach, and apparently it worked, because he got so into sleep he participated in our Sleep Collection. So now the teacher has become the student. And I’m not the only fan — The Cut’s Amanda Arnold pronounced Diddy’s guided meditation “the best thing I’ve ever heard.” I’ve listened to all of these experiences and I’ve yet to hear the ending of one. Which, of course, is the whole point. And they are my favorite stories and meditations that I’ve never finished.
In addition to The Sleep Collection, we’ve also launched four special episodes of my podcast featuring four remarkable women on what sleep means to them and how they prioritize it in their lives. There’s Lisa Kudrow on the connection between sleep, science and spirituality; Melinda Gates on deep sleep, meditation and human connection; Lindsey Stirling on sleep and creativity; and Charli XCX on sleep and success.
And stay tuned for my new podcast, “What I've Learned With Arianna Huffington,” also sponsored by Audible. Here I talk to people I love and admire about the deeply personal and life-changing lessons they’ve learned over the course of the last year. Some of my guests include Jay Shetty, Adam Grant, Bozoma Saint John, Tim Ferriss, Van Jones and Dan Harris. They share how the challenges of 2020 changed their relationships, their work and their notions of productivity, meaning and purpose. And we’ll also hear the wisdom they’ve taken from the year as they move forward.
We’re all creating a new normal for ourselves. And a key part of making it a better, healthier and more productive normal is to make getting the sleep we need a part of our daily — and nightly — routine. And thanks to Audible, that’s become a lot easier.
