Introduction

It's our pleasure to introduce you to Taz Rajabali, CEO of Melius Consulting, who will happily share that he is of Indian ancestry, made in Uganda and born in London, and destined it seems to be a global citizen!

Taz has spent more than 25 years in corporate life and today lives to serve others by using his learnings in HR to create successful companies and happy communities.??

Q. What events led you to this path and how long have you been in business?

A. A deep-rooted desire to help others;?to combine experience, passion and perhaps a little talent, to drive changes I felt necessary in the world of HR and in particular, hiring.?

Melius Consulting was “born” in 2021 after a lengthy gestation, and focuses on “hiring excellence” for both companies and individuals?

Q. How did you come up with the name for your business?

A. It means 'Improvement' in Latin and aligns strongly with both my personal and professional drivers. Continuous improvement has always been a foundational approach throughout my career.

Q. Who has been your biggest loudest cheerleader on your journey?

A. Great question!?Humbled and grateful to have had many, but both mum and sister deserve joint first place.?Both serve as sounding boards, guiding lights and stress-relievers if things get lairy!?Wonderful team, making me incredibly fortunate to have such gorgeous humans by my side (if you’re reading this, “thanks guys”!).?

Q. What is the one biggest challenge you have faced so far and how did you overcome it?

A. Scaling.?I’m in the process of overcoming this by focusing on capability development within the team, empowering others to take responsibility whilst knowing I have their backs, and then handing off responsibilities so I can focus on other aspects of the business.?It’s a work in progress.

Q. Did the pandemic affect your business in anyway i.e. did you have to implement a Plan B due to Covid-19?

A. We launched in 2021, so no, we were not affected by the pandemic. That being said, Covid-19 instigated some of the deepest re-thinking of the world of work, so in terms of client support today, there's much to consider.

Q. What are your top 3 goals for the future?

A. Within the next two years, I’d like to have helped >5000 individuals with their career-related challenges.

Within the next year, I want to have built successful businesses for all Melius Consulting Associates (there are metrics around this) so their lives and those of their families are improved.

Finally, and also within the next year, I want to have launched the Melius Consulting Foundation which will be funded by revenues from the business and will support causes which matter to both the team and to me.?

Q. Name one thing that you currently do to go above and beyond your clients’/customers’ expectations.

A. Melius Consulting, from the outset, was created to redefine what a Hiring Partner can deliver.?For example, our non-traditional staffing agency rewrites standards of delivery performance, accuracy, price, and service for our clients.??

Our approach will always be to challenge norms and delivery eye-opening excellence with every project undertake

?Q. What was the best advice you ever received and who gave it to you?

A. Again, I look to mum here.??Of her many lessons which stick to mind, she once told me to never do anything which causes me to lose sleep at night.?Equally applicable in both professional and personal life.?Thanks mum! :)?

Q. How do you spend your free time?

A. Experiencing and enjoying life!?Whether that is traveling, spending time with loved ones, walking alone on a beach, reading/learning, exercising….. I guess just the ‘normal’ things we all try to do .

Q. What is something most people do not know about you?

A. Hahahah, dangerous question!?OK, safe answer: I was once captured by guerillas in the jungles of north west Columbia….I say no more! ?

Q. What advice would you offer to anyone thinking of becoming a full-time entrepreneur?

A. Go for it, and the “right time” is whenever you choose it to be.?

Without wishing to repeat old clichés, every day is truly educational, and the experience is incredible…if you allow it to be.?

Q. What services/products do you offer your clients?

A. Melius Consulting is a hiring consulting firm.?We help clients achieve improved/outstanding hiring results whatever their existing approach, and offer this through various standard and custom solutions ranging from our industry-redefining staffing agency to outsourced solutions, modular solutions, hiring audits, hiring manager/team trainings and more. ?

Q. Where can potential customers go to find you?
