Introducing Taylor Courson, a dynamic Program Specialist on the Employee Communications team, primarily supporting the In-Flight Service division. Taylor is the epitome of infectious enthusiasm and an outgoing personality, paired with an unwavering dedication to her team and fellow employees. In her role, Taylor brings a measured and effective approach, ensuring that communication with flight attendants is impactful and clear. Her unique perspective as a former flight attendant greatly enriches her communications, making them more relatable and effective.

Superpowers Unleashed

In the realm of communication, Taylor excels in translating ideas into impactful messages, fostering clarity and resonance. Her ability to build relationships stands as a cornerstone of her professional approach, characterized by trust, empathy, and effective collaboration. Taylor, with her outgoing personality, passion, and drive, plays a pivotal role in fostering a team environment that values shared goals and open communication. Journey to Delta

Taylor's journey began with a bachelor's degree in communication and media studies from Kennesaw State University in 2017. While studying, she interned with The Bert Show, where she supported news and entertainment writing and participated as an on-air personality, gaining valuable behind-the-scenes experience with the morning radio show.

Although Taylor's passion and dream were to join the communications team, she decided to start her career as a flight attendant. Eager to understand the intricacies of the frontline operations, she embraced the role wholeheartedly, meeting many people and building wonderful relationships with employees and customers.

Being a flight attendant, she learned a lot of valuable skills that honed her problem-solving abilities and cultivated a customer-centric mindset, which is highly transferable to the fast-paced and dynamic nature of a corporate environment.

Starting her aviation career at the beginning of 2020 was challenging. The difficulties of navigating the aviation landscape during the pandemic led her to undertake two temporary duty assignments (TDY) with the onboard service and catering team, gaining more insights into the operation.

After 2.5 years in the skies, an opportunity within the Employee Communications team, supporting the In-Flight Service division, arose. Securing the Special Assignment (SAFA) role, she immersed herself in learning the intricacies of the communications team.

Four months into her SAFA role, fueled by passion and a hunger for growth, Taylor eagerly applied for a full-time merit position on the team—and nailed it! Since then, her journey has been a thrilling ascent. A promotion followed, allowing her to infuse her flight attendant perspective into daily communications and support more complex communication initiatives.

Life Beyond the Office

• Passions/Hobbies: Taylor enjoys traveling and immersing herself in diverse cultures. She cherishes quality time with family and friends. Her active lifestyle includes various physical pursuits for a healthy balance. A culinary enthusiast, Taylor delights in exploring new gastronomic experiences at local restaurants. As a sports fan, she enjoys both watching and participating in sports, drawn to the excitement of the competitive spirit. Additionally, listening to country music on long drives resonates with her appreciation for storytelling through melody.

• Fun Fact: At a young age, Taylor appeared on Cartoon Fridays on Cartoon Network, where she announced the upcoming cartoons.

The Delta Day-to-Day

Taylor's day-to-day role is a dynamic blend of strategic communication initiatives and project management. Central to her responsibilities is authoring "Rumor Has It," a bi-weekly campaign meticulously crafted to debunk rumors and address questions among flight attendants. She also supports ATL leader communications, scheduling communications, and health and safety communications, ensuring that flight attendants are equipped with the necessary information for their day-to-day responsibilities. Collaboration is a key aspect of her role, and she actively partners cross-functionally with the marketing team to track engagement insights of their communications. By analyzing data, Taylor and her team gain valuable insights into the effectiveness of their campaigns, allowing them to identify areas for improvement and refine their communication strategies.

What Taylor finds truly rewarding about her role is the opportunity to leverage her flight attendant perspective through communications. Being able to connect on a level that resonates with the flight attendants adds a unique layer of authenticity to their communication initiatives. She thrives on the cross-collaboration with fellow employees, appreciating the chance to work alongside diverse talents across different departments. Additionally, Taylor loves working with leaders and being a trusted source to help bring their communications to life.

In her current role, Taylor is living her dream by seamlessly integrating her flight attendant perspective into impactful communication strategies. Looking forward, she aspires to build and lead her own team.
