Leadership, like a river, can bring hope and life or destruction and suffering.?What about YOU? Are you bringing life-giving energy or stress to the people around you??I am crazy enough to believe we can become the type of people who practice the habits that make the difference. That is why our ONE BIG GOAL at Epic Rivers Leadership is?developing life-giving leaders?who bring vitality and growth to their teams, organizations, families, and the world.
Here's the great news! Research, including Project Oxygen and others, reveals surprisingly simple things you can do that make a big difference as a leader.?
Practice these two foundational habits this week to create a positive ripple effect and check out our content and videos on +Positive Talent Conversations for more.
?? Prioritize 1-on-1s: You may be tempted to see check-ins as a time-suck or an interruption, but when done right, there is no better investment of your time as a leader. Use the time to connect on a human level, get aligned on priorities, and check in on progress and obstacles.?
?? 1-on-1 Kick-starter: Make it a habit to start your meetings by asking, "What's something positive going on for you, personally or professionally?" Or, "What's most important for you personally or professionally right now?" This is an open-ended way to get beyond small talk, invite positivity, or get to what's most important fast.

?? That's me (Chuck) swamped underwater while paddling the Arkansas River in 2014. Ed Palpant, a long-time friend and mentor of mine is the guy speeding up behind me.?
I made it out of that whitewater, and 10 years later, I am happy to announce that Ed has joined Epic Rivers Leadership as a Partner, perhaps with a similar goal - to make sure I don't drown on my own :-).?
Ed brings decades of business experience as an entrepreneur, as well as deep expertise in leadership development.
We look forward to introducing you to more of the Epic Rivers Leadership team soon.
Until next time BE LIFE-GIVING!
