Hello!
This post is a quick explanation of Skippy Scout's new post flower analysis for?Oilseed rape.
PFR?completes our OSR suite - and gives actionable reports based on the development of your crop infield from drilling to harvest.
Our?Post Flowering Ratios?give you an accurate report of the interplaying Pod Development, Ripening and Senescence?ratios of your OSR as your crop matures. Enabling you to monitor and manage your crop, decide on key timings and spraying regimes.

What are Post Flowering Ratios??
Post Flowering Ratios?are a new level of analysis for the latter growth stages of?Oilseed Rape.?Skippy PFR?gives you quick and actionable information?based on the interplay of Pod Development, Ripening and Senescence?ratios of your OSR.
These ratios give you vital?information to help you:
- Track?pod development and?progress towards senescence.
- Decide on applying N at pod fill.
- Decide on applying Podstik before desiccation.
- Time?and target?your infield seed checks.
- Decide on timing for pre-harvest?desiccation spray.

Pod development
Monitor the development of your OSR, spot problems, predict yields and plan for?spraying and harvest.?
What is the Pod development?ratio?
This shows the percentage of each image/field that is going through seed/pod fill & development*. In this case the plants will still be green and no flowers will remain.
*(BBCH Growth Stage 70-79)
Pod ripening
Following on from Pod development, OSR begins to mature and yellow - monitoring the change from the green of pod dev to the yellow of ripening gives key indicators on the progression and timing of your crop.
What is the Ripening ratio?
This shows the percentage of ripening* in each image/field. This is shown by the change in colour from green to yellow throughout the pods.
*(BBCH Growth Stage 80-89)
Senescence
As your OSR matures it's vital to know the progression into?senescence, to plan when and where to do the necessary seed tests, and decide on the best timing?for desiccation or swathing.
What is the Senescence ratio?
This aims to show the percentage of crop die-off or senescence*, i.e. soon to be ready for desiccation, swathing and/or harvest. This is as the plants turn a dark brown and dry out.
*(BBCH Growth Stage 90-99)
