Introducing Scott Grigg, New Tax Assessor-Collector for Collin County
Collin County’s newly elected Tax Assessor-Collector, Scott Grigg, officially began his term on January 1, 2025, stepping into a role previously held by Ken Maun, who retired after four decades of dedicated service. Scott’s journey to this position was a natural one—he spent years within the office, most recently as the Financial Operations Manager, where he gained valuable insight into the operations and laws governing the department. "Having worked within the office for years, I understand the importance of both familiarity with the work and the laws that govern it," he said. "It made sense for me to step in and help lead the office forward."
Stepping into such a long-established position can be daunting, especially following someone with Ken’s legacy. However, Scott is excited to bring fresh eyes and new ideas to the office. "For many, change can be unsettling," he explained, "but for others, the chance to introduce new ideas and improve processes is something they look forward to. I’m excited to bring my vision of a more efficient and accessible office to life."
One of Scott’s priorities is providing superior customer service while ensuring taxpayer money is protected. He’s focused on improving processes, implementing better controls, and integrating technology to keep pace with the county's growth. "We’re already working hard to expand online services, offering pay-by-phone options, and exploring other ways to serve residents more efficiently," he said. As Collin County continues to expand, Scott understands that more cars need registering, more property taxes need collecting, and more citizens need assistance. "The growth of the county presents both opportunities and challenges. Our goal is to find better ways to serve the public while keeping up with the demand," he added.

With over 35 years of experience in finance, accounting, and auditing, Scott is no stranger to managing complex operations. Before taking on this role, he worked with some of the largest companies in the world, giving him the skills to oversee an office that collects over $4 billion annually and issues more than 1.5 million receipts. His professional background has prepared him well for the challenges ahead, but it’s his commitment to public service that truly drives him. "The most rewarding part of public service is helping people—whether that’s answering their questions or guiding them through difficult situations," he shared.
Outside of work, Scott enjoys spending time outdoors, attending Dallas Stars games, and being with his wife, Amy. He’s completed 54 half marathons and two full marathons in just five years. "I’ve always believed in working hard and staying dedicated," Scott said. "That discipline carries over into every aspect of my life." With Scott at the helm, Collin County residents can look forward to an efficient, customer-focused office ready to tackle the challenges of growth and change.
The Tax Assessor-Collector’s Office is located in the Hatchell Administration Building at 2300 Bloomdale Rd., McKinney, TX 75071. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with extended hours on Thursdays until 7:00 PM.
