In his practice, Rob offers affirming and s*x-positive care addressing a wide variety of issues. Through training and clinical experience, he is trauma-informed, body-positive, k!nk-aware and supportive of the LGBTQIA+ and s.x work communities. Rob works with all relationship styles. Rob strives to create a welcoming, warm, and supportive space for those he serves. Rob wants to help you find your voice as well as build the relationships and sex life you desire. Your s-x life should bring you pleasure and joy.

Why did you want to work in the mental health industry?

I started my work life in the business world, specifically in commercial real estate finance.? After 20 years, I became very tired of arguing with people about money.? I rewoke a childhood dream and went to medical school.? As you go through medical school you sample the major disciplines in medicine.? I chose psychiatry because people with mental illness often have a sense of deep and prolonged suffering.? Working with them can make a significant difference in the quality of their daily lives.

What made you want to pursue becoming a sex therapist?

Sexuality is a profound part of being human and should be a source of great joy.? People who have issues around their sexual lives usually find that this unhappiness spreads to many aspects of their lives.? I believe sex therapy can help reduce this suffering.

Regrettably, there are very few therapists in the mental health field who have the interest or the training to provide sex therapy. I wanted to be able to provide this kind of therapy and be there for people. ? In addition, I am a physician and feel that this training may have something to offer for those who feel their sexual issues may be related to their medical problems.

What will a first session with you look like?

Our first session (and all other sessions) should be an open, warm, and supportive exploration of what is troubling you. ? You should feel you can talk to me frankly and honestly without any fear of judgment.? You should feel heard and supported.

In the first session, I like to take a little time exploring your issues in the context of your larger life.? This may help us see a bigger picture and maybe draw some connections that can be helpful.? As a doctor, I also want to know a little bit about your medical status (including medications) to see if that might contribute to your concerns.? Finally, I want you to leave the first session with some hope and direction about what we might accomplish over time.
