Introducing- The Resilience Report

Welcome to the first edition of The Resilience Report! I’m thrilled to have you here as we embark on this journey together, exploring the critical intersections of mental health, workplace culture, trauma informed practices, and the ever-shifting events and trends of today’s world.

Why I Decided to Start this Newsletter

Workplaces have always been more than just places to clock in and out—they’re communities, environments where people spend a significant portion of their lives. Yet, for too long, the conversation around mental health at work has been overshadowed by stigma, discomfort, and silence. While I can do a lot of amazing work in this space with The Wounded Workforce? , I wanted the chance to leverage and fully call in my network here on LinkedIn. Thus, the Resilience Report was born!

This newsletter aims to:

  • Highlight the importance of mental health and wellbeing in ALL workplace
  • Share actionable insights for creating trauma informed workplaces.
  • Dispel myths and misconceptions about mental health, trauma, and what supports at work look like.
  • Analyze current events and trends through the lens of resilience and culture.
  • Provide practical tools and strategies to foster healthier, more supportive organizations.

Whether you’re an HR professional, a leader, or someone passionate about building better workplaces, my hope is that these conversations inspire you to take meaningful steps toward change.

What Resilience Is and Isn’t

Resilience is frequently used - and misused word in the world of work. So I want to make sure to kick off this newsletter with some clarity about the term and how and when we should use it.

Resilience is not about pushing through at all costs or ignoring challenges. Instead, resilience is about adaptability, self-awareness, and finding ways to recover and grow in the face of adversity.

What resilience is:

  • The ability to bounce back from setbacks.
  • A skill that can be cultivated over time.
  • Rooted in self-care, support systems, positive organizational cultures, ?and a healthy perspective on challenges.

What resilience isn’t:

  • Endlessly enduring stress or hardship without seeking help.
  • Suppressing emotions or pretending everything is fine.
  • A solo effort—it often requires connection, collaboration, and organizational support.

By understanding what resilience truly means, we can better support ourselves and others in creating environments where growth and recovery are possible, even in difficult times.

A Bit About Me

Just in case you’re new to my profile, I wanted to share a bit about me. My name is Stephanie Lemek and I’m the Founder & CEO of The Wounded Workforce? .? Before starting my entrepreneurship journey, I worked as an in-house HR professional for 16 years, including 10 years supporting construction and the built environment. I’ve spent years working with leaders across industries, helping them understand the profound impact that mental health and trauma have on individuals and teams. My approach combines research-backed strategies with real-world applications, ensuring that complex ideas are accessible and actionable for everyone.

Beyond my professional work, I’m a firm believer in the power of community. That’s why this newsletter isn’t just about sharing information—it’s about sparking dialogue and building connections. Together, we can create workplaces where resilience isn’t just a buzzword, but a lived reality.
