Introducing the Remarkable GPT Mention Feature
Vladimir Orekhov
Hi, I am Vladimir Orekhov, founder of Voola. I discuss blockchain, machine learning and high-tech news.
A new and incredibly fascinating feature called "GPT Mentions" has been released in ChatGPT today. GPT Mentions enables users to communicate with multiple GPT applications within a single chat window, consolidating their outputs and linking their responses into a unified thread directly within ChatGPT.
This is a very intriguing addition as it opens up the opportunity to utilize the strengths of various GPT applications in new ways. Unfortunately, currently only a limited number of users can test this feature. It's unclear when GPT Mentions will gain broader adoption among all ChatGPT users.
In this article, I will explain what GPT Mention is.
How to Use GPT Mention?
Mentioning GPT allows you to tag any other user's GPT in the chat window using the "@" tag followed by the name of the GPT application. This feature enables switching between different GPTs within the same conversation, adopting an agency approach to chatting.
For example, you could start discussing a topic with ChatGPT, then bring in a separate GPT optimized for poetry writing to add a poetic touch, and then insert tags from another GPT application designed for creating images to bring the poem to life. The possibilities are endlessly captivating!
When is this Useful?
Here's a bright example of using this feature shared by the first user Kartik Ramasamy on the X website:
Using two GPT applications "Ai PDF" and "Grimoire", Kartik was able to read and discuss a PDF file using "Ai PDF" and then write Python code examples for it using "Grimoire".
First, he uploaded the PDF file and asked Ai PDF if there was any Python code in it to solve a specific problem. Unfortunately, there were no Python examples.

Then smoothly switching to "@Grimoire" in the same conversation with ChatGPT, he asked it to generate a custom Python code example implementing the required functionality.
The GPT application wrote the code for him. This is an amazing demonstration of how GPT Mentions allows combining GPTs in unprecedented ways for creative problem-solving.
Leakage of GPT Mentions Information
Currently, OpenAI has not made an official statement regarding GPT Mention. The leak initially occurred in the chatgpt-source-watch GitHub repository by user Glen Grant (0xdevalias).
ChatGPT Source Watch is a carefully crafted repository that serves as a treasure trove for those interested in watching the evolution of ChatGPT webpack chunks. It gracefully preserves historical webpack chunks in their original splendor, and offers a breath of fresh air with unzipped and beautifully formatted versions of the chunk files. With this thoughtful solution, you can easily analyze the nuances between different builds.
In simple terms, ChatGPT Source Watch is a brief summary of changes and updates to the ChatGPT codebase over time.
Some users have found tricks to forcibly enable GPT Mentions by modifying HTTP responses, but this is challenging for many.
In conclusion, I like the idea of being able to invoke multiple GPT applications in a single chat instance. However, since the feature is still new and has not yet been rolled out to all users, there are bugs and limitations that need to be addressed.
I hope that in the future, this feature will be improved to allow us to query multiple GPTs at once rather than mentioning each one separately. This would significantly streamline the workflow! I'm confident that such a change will happen soon.
Hey?Vladimir, on this note... we'd love for you to give our custom AI personas a go too. They allow you to create multiple identities you can easily switch between on more than 30.000 platforms and, of course, they're accessible without a subscription :)
