Introducing Quarantine Bingo
I am growing increasingly tired with COVID-19 news coverage and the growing list of cliche phrases I can live without. The pandemic is serious and the treat to health, life, and commerce is real. The New York times summed up with their front page list. That should be the last mike drop.
I for one, don't need to hear about any longer. One news story a day would be just fine with me. The 24/7 barrage needs to end. The press is not going to stop, but you can have some fun with it and play quarantine Bingo. Just get 5 of the phrases below in any newscast or business meeting and you can yell "Bingo":
- "We are all in this together"
- "We will get through this"
- "Zoom Meeting"
- "Stop the spread"
- "Self Quarantine"
- "Social Distancing"
- "Need for Testing"
- "Face Mask"
- "Uncertain times"
- "New Normal"
- "Heros work here"
- "Flatten the Curve"
- "Antibodies"
- "Herd Immunity"
- "PPE"
- "PPP"
- "Front Line"
- "Ventilator"
- "Vaccine"
- "Hand Washing"
- "Hand Sanitizer"
- "Toilet Paper"
- "Trump not wearing a mask"
- "China"
- "Invisible Enemy"
- "Corona Virus"
- "Grim Milestone"
- "Quarantine Fatigue"
- "Trump tweeted..."
- "Re-open"
- "Facts over Fear"
- "Stay Safe"
By now, just about every human over the age of 4 understands the reality of the situation and their own personal responsibility to limit risk. The constant bombardment of messaging can relax. Instead of 24 X 7 news coverage hour of all Corona Virus all the time, let's limit to no more than 10 minutes of news per hour and start reporting on. If there is actually something new to report, by all means state it. But it seems to all be the same boring story.
So take heart and if you must suffer through all COVID all the time, at least have some fun and play bingo. If you have any terms you are sick of hearing please add them in the comments.
