Introducing: The Personal Brand Brief

???? Hey Linkedin! I’m excited to announce the start of a new project for me... a NEW Linkedin Newsletter! Every week, I'll be sharing tips, tools, and trends you can apply to help build a personal brand. To make sure you stay in the loop, click the “SUBSCRIBE” button above! If we haven’t met, here’s a little background on my story. Here's the vision behind the newsletter:

It’s hard to believe that 2020 is almost over. The world as we know it has been changing rapidly each day, and the need to be innovative and present online has never been more important.

Our corner offices have switched to our kitchen tables, our coffee meetings have become zoom calls, and interviews are now taking place in the room of our home that strikes the best balance between natural lighting, plain background and strongest wi-fi bars... ??

One of the biggest pivots I’m foreseeing regarding how we work online is the evolution of how we build trust with our peers, teams, and community in this new digital world. And the BEST way I believe you can make this pivot is to recognize two things: 

First: you have a personal brand ??

And second: you have the ability to position it to be your biggest asset ??

The GREATEST mistake most people make is leaving your personal brand in the attic until you have more time to work on it... because the truth is - whether you know it or not, you already have a presence. And whether it's a half complete profile or a Linkedin title from 3 years ago, people are making conclusions based on your online presence.

The question is: are they conclusions that you are wanting them to make? Are they building equity into what you stand for as a professional?

For 2020, business cards, handshakes, and conferences have been thrown out the window. All of those interactions have shifted online, and the conversations we used to have face to face are now happening 24/7 screen to screen. Because of this, we are now being asked: how will we make changes to engage with our community, our teams, and our opportunities? ??

Consider the students that were counting on that lunch room chatter for “bumping into” the who's who of the office. They are now launching online conferences. Think of the CEOs that typically had all-hands meetings. They're now holding them remote and even hiring future c-suite talent fully remote from their home office.

There’s no denying that the emotion, tone, and pace of conversations are different. But there’s also no reason we can’t try to maximize the digital changes that are happening to the way that we communicate. 

With all the pivots companies are making to move their efforts online, I’ve been compelled during this time to share my advice on how professionals - from university students to CEOs - can invest in their digital brand to share their story and create measurable impact on the topics they care about.

A weekly newsletter with same day applicable advice that you can use to understand, start and scale your personal brand ??

I plan on doing this by: 

?? Sharing advice I’ve learned creating content and telling stories on Linkedin

?? Interviewing well established marketers/content creators to share their tips

?? Crowdsourcing industry reports and trends to unpack their teachings 

As someone that craves great content and has a busy schedule, I plan to keep the newsletters as short and as jam packed with same-day action items as possible.
