Introducing The People’s House: A White House Experience

Last night, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden joined the White House Historical Association to announce our plans for The People’s House: A White House Experience, a new, cutting-edge education space, at our biennial Gala in New York City. It was an honor to see the project featured this morning on TODAY.?

Set to open in fall 2024 just one block from the White House, this interactive space will tell the story of the Executive Mansion, its inhabitants, and the people who have dedicated their careers to its legacy and impact – bringing many people closer to the White House than ever before.?

The People’s House: A White House Experience ushers in a new era for the White House Historical Association, marking an inflection point in our ongoing mission to preserve and share the White House’s legacy with even more visitors for generations to come.??

Located at 1700 Pennsylvania Avenue, the 33,000-square-foot, three-floor site will feature exhibits and galleries that bring the People’s House and its storied history to life. Visitors will be able to interact with a full-scale replica of the Oval Office, a recreation of the Rose Garden, a White House model, reenactments of a State Dinner, and more dimensional galleries that let them step into history.?

The People’s House: A White House Experience will combine immersive media and inventive recreations to provide a behind-the-scenes look at White House life and the lives of first families. In addition to the exhibits, we are excited to offer retail space and a new educational wing, designed for students to further explore the galleries and immerse themselves in our shared history.??

At the Association, we are relentlessly focused on educating the public on the living history of the White House, no matter where they are. Last week, the White House launched a virtual Google Maps White House tour, which is a perfect complement to our expansive digital library and multilingual White House Experience mobile app. Soon, our interactive education space on Pennsylvania Avenue will continue expanding access to America’s Executive Mansion in more ways than ever before.?

Millions travel to our nation’s capital every year, including scores of school trips and tourists from around the world, and we are thrilled that The People’s House: A White House Experience will play an unparalleled role in expanding visitors' knowledge for years to come.?
