Introducing new ways to have fun, share knowledge, showcase your products & more + Inspiring conversations about healthy habits & a 60-second pitch

Every few weeks, I share with the team at LinkedIn new products and experiments that seem to be working — or not!— so that we can all learn from each other. I’m publishing these here, too, (with anything confidential x’ed out or removed) to give you some ideas for what we’re building, why we’re building it, and how we operate; I’d love your feedback on everything! – Tomer?

Hey team,

As we near the midpoint of 2022 (and the end of our Fiscal Year 2022), I could not be more grateful for the impact we’ve had. For many professionals across the world, LinkedIn has become the place they go to grow their careers and businesses - learning, feeling inspired, hiring, getting a job, teaching, buying, selling, marketing, partnering, and more - every aspect of one’s professional journey and ambition.?

As we look towards the 2nd half of 2022, we see continued macroeconomic uncertainty worldwide. We have never been better positioned to help by doing what we do best, focusing on creating economic opportunities for every member of the global workforce. Looking at our product roadmap, I am extremely excited about what we’re building next for our members and customers.?

Before we go into our product updates, I want to congratulate the class of 2022 graduating across the world. To support the millions of students becoming job seekers overnight, we created a new Kickstarting Your Career report, which aims to help young professionals find the best way to launch a career in today’s job market. In addition, we launched our Top Voices: Next Gen across 10 countries throughout the month of May — highlighting 85+ creators and publishing in 4 different languages. From young founders to workplace futurists, these creators are sharing their perspectives on how to succeed in the next generation of jobs.?

1. The funny reaction is now on LinkedIn ??

One of the most serious feature requests we get is facilitating more humor on LinkedIn. Humor makes work moments fun, and laughter can play an important role in sharing authentic professional experiences on LinkedIn. That’s why I’m excited to introduce our much-anticipated funny reaction!

We’re rolling it out now and it will be ramped to all members over the next few days. I hope it will bring you a bit of levity throughout your professional day.

2. Feature your products on your Profile

While some people think of their careers by the roles they had, I like to think of mine by the products I co-built. That’s why I am very excited about this upcoming launch: Products are an integral part of many professional careers. Whether you build, sell, market, or support certain products, being able to showcase them on your profile can enhance your professional identity and experience. For example:

  • As a product builder (e.g. founders, engineers, designers, product managers), you might want to be known for your creations, get contacted by people who use your product, and even be identified by recruiters who are looking to hire builders with similar experience.
  • As a go-to-market professional (e.g. sellers, marketers), you might want to showcase your expertise and get contacted by prospects and buyers. With buyers and sellers increasingly turning to LinkedIn to navigate the buying process, adding products to your profile is just one step in our journey to make the virtual selling world a little easier.??

Products on Profile will start to roll out in the coming weeks and more broadly in the following months so stay tuned for more.?

3. Creation joy - a bundle of creator experience enhancements

We have been investing heavily in building experiences that empower every professional to create, share their knowledge, and spark conversations that lead to economic opportunities. Over the last several weeks, we’ve released several capabilities to help members create &? measure their impact, engage their community, and showcase the content that matters most to them. Here’s a small sample of the things in flight that you don’t want to miss:

  • Insights & analytics enhancements to help you get more measurable insights about the performance of your posts, from single post analytics to content and audiences dashboards, to reshares and followers insights.
  • Rich media enhancements to improve the creation and consumption of video from a fully immersive player and auto-play to unmute/mute control, video trimming, camera roll improvement, and faster loading on mobile.?
  • Articles & newsletter enhancements to improve article creation performance and usability with?the ability to add mentions and hashtags, just like in posts.
  • Repost: we are launching a new way for members to reshare content without adding commentary in a way that allows them to instantly and directly amplify others' content while making sure to keep the spotlight on and conversation around the original content.?

  • Audio Events: Earlier this year, we started beta testing a new event experience that gave members the ability to host interactive audio discussions, from AMAs to networking events, and thought leadership sessions. We’re expanding Audio Event hosting access to anyone who has Creator Mode turned on.?

  • Ability to add a Link to Your Profile: We heard from many creators that increasing visibility for a personal website, event, or portfolio is a priority. With creator mode, you can now add a link to the top of your profile so that audiences can learn more about you and your brand.?

4. Switch between your LinkedIn profile and your LinkedIn page

Many LinkedIn members also have Pages on LinkedIn. In fact, there are more than 50M pages on LinkedIn today, representing almost every brand, company, and school worldwide. We hear often from Page admins that they would like to join relevant conversations and engage with their own community. They often discover great conversations on their feed and would like to comment and react as their page, and not as themselves. This is why we are excited to launch an identity switcher to allow admins to switch between using their Page or profile on LinkedIn. This gives Page admins the option to keep their Page activity separate from their profile. This feature is currently only available on web and will come to mobile shortly.?

So far we’ve seen some great feedback on the ease of use of this feature on how it helps admins to engage in more conversations with their community. Here’s one example of that:

5. Exciting new learning courses that can help you sharpen your skills

After ~2.5 years of COVID shutdown, we’re finally opening up our LinkedIn Learning Studios. After shifting to a fully remote recording environment, we’re thrilled to now be back in the studios to record more courses each week to help our members get the skills they need to advance in their careers.

Here are some new LinkedIn Learning courses that were added:

  • In his course on the Art of Getting Effortless Results , Greg McKeown explains how to make your life easier by flipping the script—making important tasks easier and trivial tasks harder.?
