Introducing NAR’s Emerging Technology Team: Helping REALTORS? Navigate New Technology

There is no question that technology is impacting our industry in profound ways. That’s why NAR is bringing together some of the best minds in the business to keep us at the forefront and help position us as a leading voice in innovation. I am pleased to announce NAR's Emerging Technology team led by Glenn Shimkus, Vice President of Strategy and Innovation, within our Strategic Business, Innovation and Technology group.

For REALTORS? wondering how to digest all the information about new technologies, Glenn’s team, spearheaded by David Conroy and Dan Weisman, will distill what they’re learning in frequent, readily understood blog and video postings. Additionally, the team will build relationships and create partnerships with corporations, government agencies, and academic institutions that are researching, developing, or funding emerging technologies.

Driving innovation and leveraging technology for the benefit of our members and the industry is one of my top priorities as NAR CEO. Along a continuum of tech-related entities within NAR, the Emerging Tech team is a key element, specifically concentrating on the very earliest stages of incubation and funding. These are the companies and technologies you haven’t heard of yet—some will fizzle while others may just become the next disruptor. Further along the continuum is NAR’s REACH accelerator focused on companies that are gaining traction in the industry, followed by Second Century Ventures, NAR’s investment arm, focused on established companies in the real estate space. Together, these programs help ensure the industry is adopting and integrating new technology that supports REALTORS?.
