Introducing Mesh.

Introducing Mesh.

All-in-One Remote Workspace. Gig Your Work.

2020 has been one hell of a year. Probably (and hopefully) the toughest one we've seen in our lifetime. But in times like this, as founders, builders, the best way we can contribute is by continuing to create; infact times like these are the best time to build. Hopefully something that can impact and improve lives in this new world order.

Well before Covid-19 hit, we were already operating as a globally distributed remote team and realised we were using way too many tools to get remote work done. There was one tool for chats, one for emails, one for task boards, one for docs and wikis and so on. Our knowledge and data were everywhere. There had to be a better way.

And so began a more definitive #FutureOfWork direction for Mesh.

Here it is:

"Mesh is an all-in-one productivity platform, over IM. It brings together group chats, task boards, docs & wikis, as well as email and calendar into one deeply integrated interface, centred around Instant Messaging."

Think WhatsApp + Asana + Google Docs. Phew.

Anytime & on your time. Silent notifications, no unread counts and a whole lot more built for sanity features.

But.. there is Slack and Discord and Notion and..

WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, G Docs, One Drive, Asana, Jira, Trello!

But.. they are either Communication tools OR Collaboration tools, and using 3-4 of these apps for Remote Work can set you back by as much as $25/user per month. We think it's time for Communication and Collaboration to come together, seamlessly, in one affordable product. Salesforce.com buying Slack is a great validation of this All-in-One productivity need.

And, we think it's high time India built a world class app for work. Mesh hopes to be that app. Proudly Made in India, for the world.

Key Features

Mesh doesn't simply bring together a bunch of communication and collaboration features together, we've re-thought everything around Instant Messaging, Email, Task Boards as well as Docs & Wikis to make what we think is a super simple and super productive interface for Work. Here's what all it's got:

Workgroups - Getting started is as easy as creating a chat group, except one thats for work. With Mesh, everything starts with, and centres around, the Workgroup. Invite users using a private link or make the group a whitelist only entry group. Tag messages with #tags or even create dedicated Channels inside the workgroups.

Task Boards - Project Management was never this easy. Most tools today make it tedious to track tasks - doing work should never be harder than tracking or planning it. Thats why our Task Boards have been built on principles of Chaos Theory "simple, self regulating, rules are more efficient than a centrally organized system" (thanks @kenziferguson for summing it up so awesomely) - this is achieved using #tags in place of multiple pre-defined or need-to-be-defined key value pairs. Simply add a task alongwith any set of #tags to organise and access your boards. Finally, Task Boards are built right into the Workgroup.

Docs & Wikis - Mesh comes with a powerful editor that makes writing docs as easy as a blog. With tables and drawing coming soon, we're hoping to make it one of the easiest document writing & wireframing systems.

Email - yes Email. While IM has clearly become the communication medium of choice, Email is still one of the most unproductive, unorganised and yet still very used modes of communication. We've re-thought email for Work and you'll soon say hello to an "Actionable Inbox" based email client, built right into the Mesh workflow.

Clean UI, #Tags, Silent Conversations, Pins etc. - Mesh is made for Remote and Virtual Work, and so has built a set of features factoring this deeply. For e.g. our no fuss UI is clean and simple, using neutral colours to make the interface easy on the eye; Notifications for new messages or other events are Silent by default to ensure mental peace. Mesh also uses hashtags to allow individual users to define interest tags so they can view only relevant messages to them; Admins can Pin messages and even Delete them to keep a check on sanity and abuse.

In all, we've re-thought and re-designed everything to make Remote Work, work.

Built with Open Source Love.

We would never have been able to build all of this, this fast; had it not been for open source software. Shout out to some of the awesome ones that helped us speed it up.

Gig Your Work.

It's been a long way with several MVP iterations and pre-launch pivots to reach where we are today. What you see is a fully rehashed product, built over many months, by a 4 person, full-time, distributed, remote, bootstrapped team, coding mad days and nights! We'd love for you to try out Mesh, it requires our Not So Secret code to get started. Simply ping me or Alok to get one. But a point of note.. we're still in break things, move fast mode so please be kind to our bugs :) Gig your work.
