INTRODUCING… LEGALTECH HUB!

INTRODUCING… LEGALTECH HUB!

Buying Legal Council has recently teamed up with LegalTech Hub. Our CEO Silvia Hodges Silverstein spoke with CEO Nikki Shaver and COO Jeroen Plink of LegalTech Hub:

Silvia: What is LegalTech Hub?

Nikki: LegalTech Hub or LTH is the largest directory of solutions for the legal industry. As buyers of legal tech solutions you can search it for anything from Contract LifeCycle Management Applications to ALSPs to Legal Research applications to Spend Management consultants.

?

Silvia: How does LTH help buyers?

Jeroen: With the help of LTH buyers are better informed when selecting software or consultants for their in-house legal departments. So many buyers don’t know where to start and so many vendors struggle to find a way into law departments and firms that the market was crying out for something to help them.

?

Silvia: What can the Buying Legal Council community use LTH for?

Jeroen: They can conduct research on solutions that their companies need, find insights on the market, and ask us to help with selection of solutions, ALSPs and general innovation consultancy. LTH also provides advisory services to buyers and vendors. Support that is relevant for the Buying Legal Council community is consultancy on selection of software solutions, digital transformation consultancy and benchmarking consultancy.

Nikki: We’re also about to launch LTH’s premium site. LTH Premium provides insights and analysis into legal tech. Powered by experts in areas varying from CLM to Contract Review to eDiscovery the site contains various high quality resources such as:

  • Landscape Articles: Experts discuss the lay of the land, use cases for a particular solution etc. An example is here.
  • Evaluation Framework and Requirements: Practical tools for in-house departments and law firms to select the solution that is right for them.
  • Buyers guides: Evaluations of vendors across 80-120 data points to give buyers full insights into any solutions.
  • Business case template: Suggesting ROI justifications for solutions in a given category, it is designed to support buyers when they pitch investment in a new solution to senior leadership.
  • Additional resources: Market deep dives and trend analyses, covering digital transformation and innovation in general.

?

Silvia: How did you move into this area?

Nikki: I saw a gap in the market for the law firms and in-house departments that I worked with: even though it was very much needed, there was no single resource you could turn to that could help with the selection of a particular tool by providing complete and useful information on the legal technology industry. I wanted to help bring transparency to the procurement process.

Jeroen: Having been both a buyer and vendor of solutions, the need was obvious. Without this kind of guidance many buyers are lost. How do you select a vendor if there are 120 vendors in a particular category.

?

Silvia: What is your background?

Nikki: I practiced law for ten years in Australia, both in private practice and in-house. The past ten years of my career have been spent predominantly leading innovation efforts in large law firms. I launched LegalTech Hub in October 2020, and was delighted to be joined by Jeroen as a co-founder in 2022.?

Jeroen: I started my career as a lawyer and then spent 15 years as a vendor of legal tech solutions, predominantly at Practical Law (now part of Thomson Reuters) but also advising and investing companies like Kira, Casetext and a number of CLM providers. After 2.5 years in an innovation role at Clifford Chance I was happy to join Nikki to revolutionize legal tech and legal tech buying.
