Introducing Joseph Wright: Cath Kidston's NEW Digital & Stores Director
Cath Kidston is one of those quintessentially British brands that you recognise from a mile off.
WeComm are proud to have always had an amazing relationship with Cath Kidston, placing amazing talent within their eCommerce team over the years. Naturally, when they recently opted to retain our services to identify a new Digital Director for their business, WE were incredibly excited to assist.
Hitting the market, WE spoke to a number of incredibly talented professionals. However, it’s safe to say when WE spoke with Joseph Wright, WE knew WE had found their candidate. He came with experience, great branding, and leadership capability but more importantly, was clearly driven, personable, motivated and, above all, a genuinely nice person to speak with and get to know.?
Like most leaders, Joe’s entrance into eCommerce came off the back of a highly successful career in store with posts at brands such as Ted Baker, Selfridges and Dunhill. Then in 2013, Joe took his first steps into eCommerce, where he returned to Selfridges as their Digital Trading Manager, spending over five and a half years working across a range of categories, taking his experience international, and receiving three promotions internally, ending his post as International Trading and Insights Lead across store and Digital. The experience Joe gained working within one of the world’s most iconic brands and one of the industry's finest digital teams is something Joe is extremely thankful for and looks back on with fond memories.

In 2018, Joe was contacted about an exciting opportunity with Dobbies Garden Centres who were super keen to push on their digital presence across the UK. They appointed Joe as their Head of Digital to drive this, and he absolutely loved his time in the role. He got the chance to work with some amazingly talented people and see incredible results including a re-platforming project, 200% team growth and 6X their digital business in just under 4 years. Like his time at Selfridges, Joe was rewarded for his efforts with a promotion after just 6 months from Head of Digital to Digital Director, stepping up to Digital and Strategy Director a year later.?
When WeComm approached Joe, he wasn’t actively looking for a new opportunity. However, when WE ran through the brief for the role at Cath Kidston, the opportunity and the amazing team, Joe himself admits it was just too hard to turn down an introduction.?
Cath Kidston are of course one of Britain’s most identifiable brands with a strong hold in the retail scene and this is, again, something Joe was super excited about. This, combined with the?opportunity to lead a highly talented team and work on a board full of experience and personality, just sealed the deal.?
Joe begins his role in the coming weeks as Cath Kidston’s NEW Digital and Stores Director, and WE couldn’t be more thrilled to have been part of this shared journey.
