What was your experience like and the learnings that you took away?

The experience was a whirlwind of newness. New people, sectors, challenges, time differences and even weather! I had a fantastic time and learnt a lot about Jacobs and how it operates across different regions but also about myself and the type of work and lifestyle I might like to have in the future. The lifestyle in Brisbane and London are quite different despite speaking the same language so it was great to experience that by living somewhere else.

Jacobs Go! really opened my eyes to all the possibilities at Jacobs and also showed me that the Jacobs culture really is engrained in the company. I'm always amazed at how lovely, helpful and intelligent my colleagues are and this was no exception. I felt so welcomed and included within the office community which made it all so much more enjoyable. I was also very lucky to get to experience this with other Jacobs Go! people in the Brisbane office which helped to make it all less overwhelming and it meant I instantly had friends to go explore Queensland with.

A massive part of the role for me was getting to learn about the future mobility market which was a relatively new sector to me coming from and engineering and carbon management background so I found the topics and conferences I got to attend really fascinating.

An unexpected learning for me was learning to trust in myself and my abilities. I was very proud of the application I put in for Jacobs Go! and I knew that even if I didn't get to take part in it, I was really happy with how I had put myself forward and tried. The cherry on top was getting to actually go and do it but I was also very nervous about trying something so new and different. The experience really showed me I can adapt to change and things may be difficult and I may make mistakes, but that's ok ???I got lots of experience leading presentations to senior staff members and I now feel a lot more confident in myself and my knowledge as I continue in my career.
