Ibor Edosa Victor, also popularly known as Edos Artistry, is an award-winning photographer based in Lagos, Nigeria who started off his professional career in 2020 without any formal training or equipment.
Having started from humble beginnings, Ibor, regularly had to hawk food after school on the streets of Benin City where he originally grew up just help his family to make ends meet, but however, frequently drew art at night as this was his passion.
Upon his graduation in 2018 from the Auchi polytechnic with a National Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology, he was encouraged by one of his brothers to pursue a fulltime career in photography which led him to sign up to work as an apprentice in a photography studio in Benin City.
With virtually no money, equipment or technical knowhow, it was during this apprenticeship that Ibor was contacted by a former school colleague to do a birthday photoshoot for his friend Happiness, which he did using borrowed equipment and a camera rented on credit.
However, his major break came in 2020 after he did a couple of photoshoots for his newly born nephew during ?m?gw? (a traditional?Nigerian Igbo?custom for postpartum care by the mother of the couple); the pictures went viral after he posted them on social media and ever since, he has been commissioned to do numerous photoshoots for both individuals and companies.
Ibor, who believes in pushing oneself beyond boundaries, said during his interview on The Camera Lounge with Kayode Alayande that “… if you cannot walk, crawl. If you cannot crawl, roll”.
Currently, Ibor has 253k on Instagram, and 93k followers on twitter both under his username Edos Artistry.
