Introducing Hobart Ventures

I can't say that this had been the plan all along, but in many ways, it feels as though that is the case. Today, I'm more than excited to introduce the world to Hobart Ventures.

Hobart Ventures is a pre-seed and seed-stage venture capital firm, driven by the belief that transformative consumer software-enabled businesses will shape the next decade and beyond. Our mission is to identify and support the innovators creating products that enhance daily life, empower users, and scale through community-driven growth.

The name “Hobart” holds profound personal significance. Hobart Boulevard, one of the cross streets where I grew up in South Central LA, is a reminder of my roots and the unique lens I bring to venture capital. My journey, from that community to a career spanning over a decade plus as an early-stage operator in consumer software, laid the groundwork for Hobart Ventures. Having played critical roles in building standout consumer companies such as Raya and Dispo, I understand the intricate blend of passion, resilience, and strategic insight required to thrive in the early stages of company building.

Hobart Ventures is laser-focused on backing companies that use technology to meet evolving consumer needs in innovative ways. We seek out founders whose products are poised for scalable growth and who demonstrate a keen understanding of their market. Our investments will span sectors including e-commerce, housing, travel, non-traditional social, and health and wellness, prioritizing business models that emphasize subscription or marketplace dynamics. We’re particularly interested in teams that build with community at the core—leveraging network effects and engagement as a driving force for growth.

In my view, consumer as an investment focus will never “die.” The fundamental principle that drives my thesis is that there will always be a demand for products that enrich life. Whether it’s improving access to better health, boosting income, facilitating housing solutions, fostering connections, enhancing education, or simply adding joy—these areas are ripe for innovation and significant business potential.
