Globally, around 700 million people suffer from hunger, and approximately 900 million face severe food insecurity. However, the growing awareness and collective resolve to address these issues offers hope.
By transforming our global food system, we can not only ensure that everyone has enough to eat but also promote sustainable agricultural practices that benefit the environment. Innovations in technology, sustainable farming methods and collective action can drive this transformation, creating resilient food systems capable of withstanding future challenges.
At Economist Impact, we have been conducting award-winning research on global food security and sustainability since 2012. At this critical juncture, we are uniquely placed to lead the conversation that can drive progress—end waste, build resiliency and create equity.
This is why I’m excited to announce The Food Imperative, a new initiative from Economist Impact that arms decision-makers with the data and insights they need to reimagine inclusive and sustainable food systems.
Using global research, expert opinion, original insights and thought-provoking events, our initiative will assess the current food landscape across five key areas - shining a light on the policies and practices that are critical to building inclusive and sustainable solutions.
