Introducing the Family Business/Business Family podcast

We're proud to introduce our new podcast: Family Business/Business Family

Each 30-minute episode will feature conversations with owners, advisors and others on all the things that make being part of a family enterprise so challenging – and so rewarding.

In our inaugural episode, host and Family Business Magazine Editor-in-Chief Zack Needles sits down with Karla Trotman, MBA, president and chief executive officer of Electro Soft, Incorporated - Electronics Contract Manufacturing (ECM), the nation’s largest Black-owned electronics manufacturing and engineering firm. Karla discusses how she and her family handled her tricky transition to the top spot, which included the difficult decision to buy out her siblings. She also talks about her new book, “Dark, Dirty, Dangerous: Building the Vibrant Future of Manufacturing.”

Katie Rucker and Jenny Dinnen, second-generation co-presidents of MacKenzie, drop by to answer an age-old family business question: Can co-leadership?actually?work?

And Dennis Jaffe, author of the book, “Borrowed From Your Grandchildren: Evolution of 100-Year Family Enterprises” and our newest?Family Business?Magazine columnist, tells us about a troubling trend he’s noticed recently: families failing to follow through on their estate and succession plans.

This episode is brought to you by Deloitte Private: serving family-owned companies, family offices, and privately-held businesses, and advising them on addressing a range of issues, from growth, talent and succession to the potential and perils of AI.
