Introducing The Endgame Entrepreneurship Masterclass!

Introducing The Endgame Entrepreneurship Masterclass!

Admittedly I'm always in motion. I love what I do working with clients and building a community of entrepreneurs. Like you!

Every now and then I take a few moments to reflect.

The annual birthday episode for the Succession Stories Podcast gives me a great reason to pause and look back.

We’re celebrating two big milestones.

One is the show’s 4th birthday- and achieving top 2% status of global podasts.

The other is the launch of my new online masterclass and community based on my book, "The Business Transition Handbook."

Over the past four years, I’ve learned a few things along the way and would love to share them with you.

I love “Best of” lists so I put together my “Top 4 Lessons” from the past four years on Succession Stories.?

Over 170 episodes, I’ve asked guests for a favorite quote. Something that inspires them. For a long time, the most commonly cited quote was from US President Teddy Roosevelt. “The Man In The Arena” speech.

More recently, it is a quote from Maya Angelou. “People will forget what you said, what you did, but will never forget how you made them feel.”

Four Years, Four Learnings:

[1] Listening is a skill we all need to practice.

We learn how to write, speak, but there’s few times I can recall in all of my school years about being a better listener. As a show host with more than 170 interviews, I’ve realized that listening is a muscle to exercise. I think that I’m a better listener with family, friends, colleagues, clients, and of course, show guests because of this skill. If we all practiced listening, more than talking, what could we learn? What connections can be made? What relationships can be enhanced? What value can be created? I want to encourage you to take measure of your listening. Are you thinking about your response even before the other person has finished? What do I do? I try to create space to truly process what’s being said. Reply with empathy. Ask questions to gain clarity.?

[2] Diverse stories inspire diverse learnings.

As a show host, one of the things that I’ve come to appreciate is the importance of having diversity of experience, thought, and insights.

One way I’ve sought to achieve that is by being intentional with my roster of guests to include people from all different backgrounds.

One of the things I’ve enjoyed a lot is amplifying the voices of others. I know it’s helped me be a better advisor to my clients, and make the show more interesting and entertaining.

People around the world listen to Succession Stories. 20% of our listeners are in 30 different countries.. Shout out to Canada, Ireland, the UK and Australia!

[3] The topic of business transition is resonating and growing.?

Over the past four years, I’ve seen growing interest in the topic of business transition planning. It’s no wonder.

Over the next 10 years in the US, 4.5 million companies representing $14 Trillion of business wealth are at stake.?

I’m on a mission. Guiding entrepreneurs to create life changing succession stories.?

Many people tell me how much they appreciate the show, my book and YouTube channel, and I'm so excited we're making an impact!

While every company is different, and the succession stories are different, I see patterns and themes:?

  • Having a transition mindset.?
  • Looking at your company through a buyer’s lens.?
  • Punching above your weight class when you want to get acquired.?
  • Having the right advisors by your side.
  • You can’t do exit planning when you’re exiting.?

The mistakes to avoid. The opportunities to capitalize on.

The number one thing I have heard from entrepreneurs on and off the air is that they wish they started sooner.

When time is on your side, you’ll be better prepared to avoid common succession pitfalls and create valuable exit options.?

I work with entrepreneurs to establish roadmaps for a future exit. I call it Strategic Transition Planning. More than exit planning or succession planning, it’s growth planning as well.?

It can feel overwhelming. Owners often ask me where to start.

This has inspired me to launch something new. An online course. The Endgame Entrepreneurship Masterclass is for owners to build your business with the exit in mind. You’ll learn today how to avoid the succession regrets of tomorrow.?

There are short video modules so you can self pace, interactive downloadable tools, and assessments.

Participants can enhance their masterclass learning experience with a peer-to-peer online forum, live mentor training, and monthly group coaching and advisory sessions led by business transition experts. Access to these resources will be included for 12 months at no additional cost for a limited time.

I’m super excited about the course and community. You can learn more by visiting my website:?

[4] I want to inspire action AND connections.

My tendency is to inspire action. What to do, what was done. I’ll admit that I have a strong bias for action and that’s the ethos of the show, my book, and the course:

Make an intention and take action.

One of the things I want to do better is connect with you. Podcasting is obviously a one-way communications channel.?

I’m excited to put good in the world, and even more excited when this goodness is shared with others.?Like connection boomerangs.?

In summary, I’ve shared four things that I’ve learned over the past four years:

1- Listening is a skill we all need to practice.

2- Diverse stories inspire diverse learnings.

3- The topic of business transition is resonating .?

4- I want to inspire action AND connection.

It takes intention to prepare your business…and yourself…Not only to maximize your business value but to maximize your meaning and purpose after you sell.?

Going back to the Maya Angelou quote....I appreciate all of the positive reviews, newsletter signups, and social media follows.

All of those things are awesome and I thank you.

I’d love to hear from you– what questions should we tackle on the show???

If you want to talk privately about your company and succession challenges, DM me or connect via my website, https://thebusinesstransitionsherpa.com

Cheers to four years and I’m super excited to meet you in the Endgame Entrepreneurship Masterclass and Community.?

Let’s work together to create life changing succession stories.
