Introducing Dive Travel Companion... a Guide to the World's Best Dive Centres, Resorts & Liveaboards

Back in October last year, Scubaverse Media launched a brand new quarterly publication, Dive Travel Adventures (DTA). Available in print in the UK and digitally globally, DTA focuses purely on dive travel and aims to excite and inspire divers into dusting off their gear and going on their own diving adventures.

While planning to launch the publication, we looked at the other diving magazines on the market and noticed that our competitors had been cutting back on both pagination and paper quality, so we made the bold decision to go in completely the opposite direction. With a minimum of 124 pages per edition, DTA’s cover has a beautiful matte finish, and at 300gsm, feels like card. The pages inside are 100gsm with a glossy finish, which really makes the stunning underwater photography inside stand out. Whereas the travel articles in other diving publications usually have between 4 and 5 pages of editorial, the articles in DTA usually have anything between 7 and 12 pages (and sometimes even more). DTA really is more than just another diving magazine – it’s a lifestyle publication, and has proved incredibly popular with both the dive industry at large and also the thousands of divers who can’t wait to pick a copy up free of charge from their local dive centre each quarter.

Digital versions of the first four editions of Dive Travel Adventures can be viewed here:

So that’s Dive Travel Adventures… what’s Dive Travel Companion?

Whereas Dive Travel Adventures delivers exciting, informative and inspiring articles about diving written by some of the world’s very best underwater photo-journalists, Dive Travel Companion will offer our readers the chance to discover the dive centres, resorts, liveaboards and other dive businesses that can provide them with the facilities and services to enjoy these adventures first-hand.

Dive businesses will have the opportunity to book either a double page spread, full page, or half page advertorial which they can use to describe the diving they have to offer in detail. The publication will be divided into the following regions:

-       Caribbean

-       Indian Ocean

-       Red Sea & the Middle East

-       Asia

-       Europe

-       Africa

-       The Americas

-       Oceania

Dive Travel Companion will launch at DIVE 2019, the UK’s biggest dive show, which takes place at the Birmingham NEC on the weekend of the 26th – 27th October. Following that it will be available from the same distribution outlets as Dive Travel Adventures.

Like Dive Travel Adventures:

  • Dive Travel Companion will be available both in print and online
  • It will be a FREE publication
  • The printed edition is an A4, perfect bound, premium quality publication with a print run of 10,000 copies
  • The printed edition will be distributed to over 100 dive centres and charter businesses in the UK and Ireland (a full list of distribution points can be found here)
  • Various UK-based manufacturers, distributors and retailers who deal directly to consumers will send copies of the printed edition out with their customer orders (including Fourth Element, O’Three, AP Diving, Otter Watersports, Miflex Hoses, Mike’s Dive Store, Robin Hood Watersports, Deep Blue Dive, and Go Dive)
  • The digital edition will be promoted to our 16,000 newsletter subscribers, through Dive Travel Adventures’ and Scubaverse’s various social media platforms, and in several FB and LinkedIn groups

At 148 pages, the print edition of Dive Travel Companion is even bigger than Dive Travel Adventures, which is sure to earn it a place on every diver’s coffee table in the UK.

Following a recent survey we commissioned, we ascertained the following insights about the Scubaverse audience (16,000+ unique visitors a month), the core group of divers who Dive Travel Companion will be marketed directly to:

  • These divers are an affluent audience, with nearly 50% earning £50k annually.
  • 47% of the Scubaverse audience book at least one dive holiday a year, with 31% booking at least two holidays and 22% booking at least three.
  • 34% of the Scubaverse audience book resort holidays exclusively, 12% book liveaboard holidays exclusively, while 54% would look to book both in the future.
  • 50% of the Scubaverse audience belong to a dive club. 80% of the clubs our visitors are affiliated with book club holidays, 20% of which book at least 1 club holiday a year, 37% of which book between 2 and 3 club holidays a year and 43% of which book over 3 club holidays a year.

These statistics clearly demonstrate that the people who will be reading Dive Travel Companion are a combination of wealthy individuals and members of dive clubs who are actively seeking to book group holidays – exactly the kind of divers your business needs to be targeting.

Please note that advertorial space in Dive Travel Companion is now extremely limited, and with the copy deadline of Wednesday 9th October fast approaching, it's essential that you let me know if you want to have your business included at your earliest convenience. At this late stage, there are some very competitive rates now available, so don't miss out on this unique opportunity to promote your business to a global audience of active divers who can't wait book their next Dive Travel Adventure with you!
