Google Isn't Killing Cookies After All...

Don't throw out those chocolate chips just yet (or in this case any of the tracking on your website). Google has been constantly pushing their own deadline back until now. Instead they will give users the option to opt out or not (similar to how Apple asks you about tracking with each app on your iPhone). What this will all look like is still a little unclear (and faces some legal hurdles in the UK first). More to come!

What's Actually Impacted By 3rd Party Cookies?

With all the cookie news, I wanted to share this great breakdown from Workshop Digital of how different platforms are actually impacted by cookie deprecation.

Hint: it's not as bad as the media makes it sound!

Google Ads (and Analytics) is already set as a first-party cookie and Meta is a hybrid. English please? Meta will be lightly impacted with certain audience types, and Google will basically not be impacted.

The 2 Biggest Red Flags When Hiring An Agency/Freelancer

So this tip was inspired by conversations I've been having with potential clients. No matter who you hire to do your ads, I want you to be well-versed in the red flags so you can make a smart decision. It pains me to see how many businesses get taken for a ride, so hopefully these tips can save some strife!

  1. They don't give you direct access to your ad account: This is your business and your ad dollars, you should have full transparency into everything in the ad account.
  2. They promise insane results: While I would love to be able to guarantee the best results for every client, it's just not possible. Are there things you can do to improve your chances of being successful with ads? Yes. But there's no magic formula that will 100% guarantee success. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
